Small Scale Military Headquarters

Whats the best way to hang these things on a wall...not from the ceiling but on a wall. I am trying to figure out how to save space. I thought peg board but I didnt know if anyone else had a better idea. Any help would be appreciated.

There are some guys on here that have real nice wall displays, hopefully they will chime in.

i have just driven a single nail into the wall and then made a loop with fishing line, hooked it over the nail and then around some convenient appendage on the plane, often the tail wheel. Not very fancy but it works and is quick.

I like quick and simple Aferg...but is it easy to take them back down if I want to take it back down.

yeah, like 2 seconds. It's just looped around the tail wheel and the nail, nothing glued or anything.

This is an old pic but for wall hanging I've used drywall screws. At the wing and fuselage, front of wing and rear of wing.

I did not take the quick and simple way, but I am quite happy witht he results. I bent wire to form the shape I needed (I used commercial grade suspended ceiling support wire), used aluminum foil tape to join the pieces together, and then coated them in the rubber dip coating that is used for pliers and other hand tools. The finished product holds Spits, Corsairs, Mustangs, Zeros, 190s, 109s, Hellcats, and Thunderbolts without any changes. I like them because I don't have to deal with fishing lines or strings, I can take the plane down at any time without issue, and I can switch planes to change the walls in my home office as desired.

Normandy I like the angle on yours looks sharp...but I like bucky's hanger looking things...I noticed them in collection pic time. I want to hang them between my bookshelves full of star wars stuff...thanks for the ideas and the info...bucky i sent you a pm...and keep the ideas coming...I like the ideas...do a few different ones maybe

When I had mine on a wall, I used a MonkeyHook and a fishing line loop. Those hooks will hold 30-40lbs. You can find the pack of 30 or so at Target for $9.99.
Now mine are on the ceiling as the wall was taken by a diecast display.

i just have two 5" nails in my walls 1 under each wing works perfect and when you want to take them down you dont have to mess with fishing line and all that annoying stuff but i do like buckys wall mount idea...

Buckyroo.. Mind sharing the dimensions of your wall hanger?

I will try to post some more information this weekend.

I like the wall display.If i would collect airplanes,that will be the way i would display them.However if i had so many that the wall was not enough space,i would install adjustable shelfs on the wall,that adjust the high space between shelfs,just about enough to accommodate the planes.Then for the last finishing touch i would install l.e.d. lights under and over the shelf to make sure the tight space will not be too dark affecting the detail view of the plane.Glass shelves would be preferable because they will look like they are flying (if they are display with the landing gear up).Also glass looks more elegant and the airplanes that are in the top shelf will be more visible when standing too close to the display. Remember the shelf does not to be very deep,just enough to hold the front landing gear.I know it sounds expensive,but the wife may like it.

I was referencing the MG34 machine gun with the strip of bullets leaning up against the bookcase in picture #5. All of the planes are awesome, but I have always been a ground and Armor guy at heart.

My mistake. For some reason I read it as MIG......
I was still on my first cup of coffee at that time.

Buckyroo is correct about the P-40 repaint, I wanted something Russian.

Maritime, the MG-34 I got in '03 and I think it was from IMA http://www.ima-usa.com/ can't remember off hand. All parts have matching numbers except the receiver its resin.
Its a cool piece and I always wanted one for my collection.

After all this I forgot to ask......CJG did you come up with any ideas about hanging your planes?

Yes I asked Bucky if he had time to make me some...hopefully he can get the time and I will get him the money. I like the way his look, they look great.
