I probably missed this on the forum, but I would love to hear your opinions on JSI's Putt Putt Maru. I got one from Santa this morning and I am very disappointed!!! I really like the box...

I also like mine. What displeases you?

Re: JSI P-38 Opinions
If I recall, the P-38 was very early in the Golden Age. As big, impressive and sturdy as the model is, there's much to wish for, in comparison to later models: No moving control surfaces and the contour of the vertical stabs is poor on the leading and trailing edges (P-40-ish) ... at least those are the two things I could think of.
I can imagine a custom to address those two issues, although it would be a big project.

Re: JSI P-38 Opinions
I'll have to upload some photos to show what this is all about, but to start off my plane is missing one "Putt". So I have a Very Rare "Putt Maru"
The biggest problem is the lack of glue at the seams through out the model followed by very loose fitting wings. When compared to my D-Day P-38 from 21st I have to say JSI is cutting corners to keep manufacturing cost down.
On a positive note: the gun barrels on the JSI bird are a great improvement over the 21st (rubber like) barrels.
I do have to say I am thankful there is 1/18 still out there! I mean "Heck Yeah" I GOT A 1/18 P-38 FOR CHRISTMAS!!!!

Re: JSI P-38 Opinions
Sorry to hear about your QC issues Blacksnakes... Not surprising with JSI.
I like my JSI Putt Putt Maru P-38. I never got the original 21c version, so I was glad to have the second chance from JSI. To me, its still the same old 21c P-38 tooling - which I like - so no gripes there. They also managed not to include the rocket tubes along the fuselage that was on the original 21c Putt Putt Maru, so kudos there.
If I have any dislikes, it comes to the paint applications. Mine is pretty much flawless save for a few slightly uneven stripes (no big deal, IMHO, as its not really noticable). The shell ejection label on the right side of the fuselage is printed upside down on my plane. The weathering, while decent, is a little darker on one wing than the other on my plane. I also had one of the landing gear wheels pop off, but that fixed easily with some glue.
Overall, my dislikes concern minor QC issues and I'm largely overlooking them
