Quality control problems, again.

I post this because while this board is mainly 1/18, it is also mainly 21C.

The new 21C Sahara Jeep in 1/6 is being reported as having major quality control problems, missing steering wheels (not broken, just gone), missing shifters, missing other small parts.

Besides the missing and broken parts there is the problem of the difference between what is pictured and what comes in the box.

The box clearly shows a .50 cal gun and both door straps and gas can straps. The gun in the box is a .30 cal and no straps at all come with the Jeep.

We all know 21C can make really decent guns and straps so I see no reason for these quality control problems, again. :(

Thats too bad. I only ever saw one of these jeeps, and didn't look too closely at it as the Sahara 1:6 line was not of primary interest to me. They are probably due to some sort of rushed production schedule or problem at the factory (fire comes to mind) - but then, 21c and the manufacturer had for ever to get these things out

It is also possible that Walmart employees "shot hoops" with your jeep TTT! As is normally the case, the 1/6th toy boxes look like they were handled by the gorilla in the old Samsonite commercials. All the Kubelwagons in most of our stores have had the mg-34's stolen from the box and there are lots of broken pieces on them. I feel for you man.

Unfortunately it is not an isolated incident. My source is a 1/6 board and different locations of the country are reporting the same problems with the Sahara Jeep (missing shifters, missing steering wheels, non existant straps). A second problem is missing fenders on the new 1/6 Kettengrad with trailer. Sealed package with no fenders ever put on the trailer. Strange things are happening

I guess I've been lucky over the years, only one broken 1/6 Jeep windshield from SBP, which they replaced within two days. My second problem was just last week with one of the new 1/6 Command Cars from eToys. Some parts were missing including the old General himself. KB Toys is replacing the CC, and sale price is so good I bought a second CC. That makes three CC's but one is slated to become a WC-52 and another is slated to be an open topped WC-56. And the General's WC-57 makes three. You can't have too many CC's in any scale. :D

Overall I guess I've been lucky with 21C, all & all, I'm still a fan.

What I am wondering is if 21st Century is obligated by arrangement to take this stuff back from Wal-mart after Wal-mart customers (or employees) have ripped stuff off out of the packages?

Given that they just sell this stuff very cheaply to Wal-mart to get the contract in the first place, it seems like this situation would then be financially crippling.

I also was wondering as to what is going to happen at KB with my 1/6 missing parts. If things are broken when you open the box, I will cauk it up to the UPS or USPS gorillas with rough handling and fix it myself. But when stuff is missing and an outfit has unresponsive customer service you are forced to return the item for replacement or refund. And then what happens to the item, is it tossed or returned to the maker?

My comment on gorillas stems from a year I spent one week working in the GPO in NYC. Handling packages we were told to ignore "Fragile" and keep trying your "hook shots" throwing packages to bounce off sides of anything to get that package in the right sack from a distance..
