Dame! Love this vehicle. Do you mean unpainted metal kit will be $300.00?

$300 seems a little steep for an unpainted Weasel, but it's awesome nonetheless. If I had the money and the patience to paint it I'd definitely buy one.

The word is "under" $300 for this Black Box Toys Weasel. Great price for a metal 1/6 vehicle. Unpainted but the last simular vehicle was a painted Universal Carrier which sold for around $850. Also from Black Box Toys. BBT has made some very nice 1/6 stuff.

Of course "under" $300 could be $295 or $299.99....

Still, looks interesting.

1/6 seems to have new stuff every week.

$300.00 DOES seem a bit low for a kit like this and being metal too.

Even if this comes in alittle over $300.00, its still a great deal, most 1/6 plastic kits are anywhere from 100.00 t0 350.00 at least, the SAS jeep I got was 95.00 and I thought that was a good price, I really hope this comes through :D

Guys:

This is not scheduled to be a kit. It is an unpainted pre-built metal vehicle.

Metal kits are a bitch for an average modelers. Too much metal trimming and soldering to make it desirable for me. I have enough trouble dremeling a plastic toy without removing some of my fingers, and glueing my fingers together. Last time I glued my forehead to my work table.....Metal kits? Not for this child. :x

Nah, the "glued my head to the table" line came from Tim Allen, the tool guy.. on "Home Improvement".

I have glued my fingers together, numerous times, hit myself in the knee with a fire axe, rolled a M-151, incorrectly guessed the depth of a stream and almost drowned my M-37, oh, and one day I was deep in thought and walked off my deck. My kids thought I had bought it that time.

Stuff happens...

Neat model and love the use of the metal as it typical for Caltek vehicles 8)

On a somewhat related note, I know a guy localy in my area that has a real one. He takes it to airshows, etc and has it fixed up with a .50 cal mount (perhaps a bit inaccurately given the vehicle's light transport & courrier role). Nevertheless it looks cool as heck - and a bit more interesting with the gun mount. Sort of the type of tracked "armored" vehicle one could fit in their garage without taking up all the space and weight of a full-sized tank

You sure have an interesting life! Tell me, was the M-151 incident in the states or back in Vietnam?

B17:

The M-151 I rolled was one of the original M-151's and the one I rolled was in Korea. As usual, when we got brand new equipment, the first one was assigned to the Company Commander, who seldom went anywhere but around our company compound. So, I got to use it for my daily courier runs to 1st Cav HQ. Then I could play on the way "home". I explored hills, fighting tank trails and positions (in case NK declared war). I rolled the M-151 on a snow covered mountain road when I hit a clear patch, the brakes locked and the Jeep flipped when I tried to steer away from the edge. I was thrown out and into deep snow. No damage to me except to my pride as a driver. As the CO was considering a court martial for me for damaging his brandy new toy, the news came out about the M-151's tendency to roll if the rear wheels went airborne and the independent suspension would collapse. I convinced the CO that is exactly what happened. Later the new M-151A1's and A2's cured the rollover problem but the damage was done to the surplus market and no M-151's any model were to be sold to civilians with out being cut in fours and then run over by a D7 Cat dozer. Too bad, a fun vehicle.

BTW - The M-151's on the market today are either re-welds or got in civilian hands by less than legal means like buying them from State CD or Boy Scout auctions. Legal, but a gray area. I was with guys buying M-151's at auction and they were allowed to strip everything off, brand new engines, trannies, seats, windshields, tires, guages, everything but the body, then the gov't crusahed the empty body. I would buy brand new Jeep tires for $5, take them to a show and sell the brand new tires for $10-15. Ahhhh, the good old days. 8)

Back to this thread - Now some guys are saying this 1/6 Weasel will be a cut but I still think a metal kit is for pro modelers only and it will be pre-built. We shall see...
