Two Modern Birds after the BF-109.

The rep on the BBI Facebook page just told me there are "Two Modern Birds" to come after the BF-109 model. I wonder what planes those will be? They answered this question after I asked them if the F-18 Hornet model will be back, so I guess one of these is the F-18. Good news for us 1:18th scale fans, way to go BBI. :)

I asked for a hint and they said: "BIG BIRDS". :)

OK, still thinking about this. Since I asked about the F-18, and they told me "two modern birds". I wonder if they meant two F-18 paint schemes? I don't know, could not get them to be more specific. :)

Hmmm....I wonder if one or both are "new" subjects? It may be a long shot but how awesome it would be if one of them was the A-10 they never released.

More than likely it's a repaint of the F-18 and the Thunderbird F-16.

I'll keep my fingers crossed. Very encouraging news for the hobby though.

Dude, this is old news. Everyone already knows its going to be the Mig 29 and the F-117, quickly followed by the A-10 and the Mig 25. Then in a few months they'll release the "Nam" series which will be the Mig 21, the F4 Phantom and the A6 Intruder. This will round out the releases for BBi in 2012. :P

the other one will be the F-16 ThunderBIRDS repaint of the Falcon.

I don't find this news personally exciting but it is encouraging. 4 new repaints in the span of just over a year is pretty good. If sales are solid who knows what it may lead to?....maybe, more repaints...lol.

God I hope the other is a Blue Angel.
It would pair very well with the Thunderbird.

As many pointed, BOTH would sell great at the air shows.

Here's videos of such air shows, the many kid fans (boys and even girls), and the historic 1st female Thunderbird + Blue Angel.

I want some of what you're smokin'

Seriously, my bet is on one repaint each for F-16 and F-18. The latter is good news for me. Although I may live to regret it, I decided to pass on the recent F-16 repaint, on the grounds of the scale problem. But I won't be able to resist a Hornet, even if it's a Blue Angels (that wouldn't be my first choice, although I know I'm probably in a minority on that ...)

I can dream can't I?

I would love to believe that any of those planes will be released but until this economy turns around we will be lucky to get repaints.

Myself would prefer an F-100 - F-105 or an F-4 in the Thunderbird scheme but a Falcon would be acceptable unless the price is outrageous which I think it will be 'cause they will make it a Limited Edition I would reckon...

gburch, you're not alone. I hope the next incoming bird might be a repaint of the F/A-18, but I prefer a tactical paint sheme. I'm not an american citizen, so I have no special love for a blue angels and no interest in very nice special anniversary paints. Just the blank tactical sheme. I would like to trade with my son, he has the VFA-190, just the one I want, he told me OK if I find him another version. But the Red Devils and the blue Marauders are sooo expensive, when one appear, I can just cry. Perheaps an Agressor, russian like paint??? They at BBI had a prototype ready...

Wouldn't it be something if the A-10 was one of those two! I've heard many rumors that they have the tooling for this bird and it would definitely put all rumors to rest if they released it.

But I'm with the others in that it'll likely be repaints, which is pretty cool too. A T-birds F-16 would be most welcome as well as the agressor liveries they had planned for the F-16 & F-18. If JSI would go ahead and make its F-15 the circle would almost be complete.

Agreed most likely repaints and that’s fine with me…missed out on all the BBI jets (was locked in a WWII only mode) and when I snapped out of it, all the F-16 & F-18’s were gone. Thanks Sabrefan for the heads up…and thanks BBI for kicking these out… I will be happy with any F-18 livery at this point.

Makes business sense if they were repaints, to ease back into 1/18

but wouldn't it be just  if the 2 modern birds turns out to be the A-10 and F-4

I could sure use a re-release of the 1/32 jolly rogers phantom, missed out on them, though those that have it already would want a different scheme

Greetings

I was down to my last 3 1/18 planes to sell and then realized how stupid it was to sell them. You cannot beat the value of the pieces for the size. Looking at other scales and lines, the prices are higher and the detail is less. Plus these things are amazing display pieces.

Glad to see some new ones come along. I would get a Thunderbirds F-16 to have an authentic BBI one. Wonder what else is coming along. Maybe they finally heard the music people want these and will buy them.

Argghhhh....now to go find a Spitfire to replace the one I foolishly sold! Idiot! (Me)

Good to hear, Corey.

And no, you can't have your "Golden Hawks" Sabre back.

They are awesome display pieces, and even with the prices these days, still a good value.

You just "thinned the herd", and are keeping the ones that you like the best.

What else are you planning on rebuying?

Snake:

Defintely a Spitfire as it was my favorite. Would love if they came out with a Hurricane! That'd be the day!

Want to get the new F-16 at some point...like that it is a 9/11 scheme. Other than that I don't know. Possibly a Hellcat.

Depends on what I can get and for what price. But after this King and Country rape on prices, surely staying in this hobby.

Corey

And the Sabre is yours, glad it is in a good Canadian home where it belongs! :)

"Modern Birds" could also mean one of several helicopters BBI made in 1:18 scale.

I'd vote for an Aggressor schemed F/A-18C as a first choice w/an airforce F-4 in 1:32 a close second.

I doubt we'll see any new tools anytime soon but there's always hope.

Does anyone know if they are going to come out with more WW2 type planes? I mean modern is ok, but I like the good ole days of propeller driven aircraft. :p51:

Better start saving my pennies for that F18. I was only 12 or so when they were going for $60 in stores near me, wish I was smarter then :(.
