Small Scale Military Headquarters

Hey guys. Just wondering what your wish list was for 1/18 aircraft, and what odds you see of them being produced. I'd like:

F-4J Phantom (preferably in Showtime 100 colors)....odds of an F-4 might be better than most after the Tomcat, especially if it was already considered once. There might be some tooling out there that could jump start a project.

F/A-18F Super Hornet- Probably not with the BBI Hornet on the market, the spite from Tomcat fans, and the limited market for 1/18 as it is.

A-6E Intruder- since it's not glamorous, I'd doubt it seeing production, but it would be one stunner of a piece IMO. The Intruder has a special charm about it that I just love.

A-7 Corsair II- same as the A-6, not a glamor jet so probably won't get the love it should

F-8 Crusader- I could see a big "last Gunfighter" getting made, as this is one iconic jet.

Thoughts?

it's been some time since we had a bonafied wish list thread. I think many have given up hope...lol.

I gather these are 'realistic' wishes and not 'B-52 bomber' type wishes?

I'd like a fw-190A, late model spitfire like a mk xiv, an arado 234 and a komet.

Well, if we're gonna go there with the B-52, I'll take a C-130 in Fat Albert colors with JATO bottles strapped to the ass end . But realistically, I hope the 1/18 market isn't dead but just dormant and soon enough another company is gonna blast us with something like the Tomcat. I've collected for a long time, never in the 1/18 arena, but there is something awesome about the sheer size. I'd love to have a whole complement of USN jet age aircraft if I could afford it. But truly, a Phantom would be a great counterpart to the Tomcat, and an A-6 would really just be over the top considering we have the Tomcat and Hornet now. I just wish I had known about the BBI Hornets back when they were retail, the idea of paying a 4x mark-up makes me want to puke, and even then they are very scarce on the death star of auction sites. I'm hoping to eventually track one down on here once the B-S-T leash gets taken off.


FWIW- it seems like the armor guys haven't been forgotten, I saw a nice 1/18 M1 Abrams and another tank (modern, possibly M2 Bradley, but not sure as I looked quick) at the local Target the other day, but I have no interest in armor. I almost snapped a picture of it to post on here and see if it was something someone was looking for and I'd pick it up and ship it to them for the cost of tank + actual shipping. If there is one thing I can't stand in the hobby world, as my stomach churning over the Hornet can show, it's a scalper.

those are bravo team vehicles and are pretty common. Nicely done for the money.

Id also love a 234 with 4 engines...

For my ridiculous on size pics I have to go with of course the Me 323 and there are no sea planes so I have to go with the BV 222

Give me 21st's cancelled B-25, not sure where I could have had room for it, but that would have been a great one.

OF course all the above are interesting , I was really desappointed by the PHANTOM & Skyraider cancelation !

On a reallistic ground : what about a Harrier jump jet ? or a an A-4 skyhawk ?

Whenever I think about this, I have to segregate my wish list into two categories: "realistic" and "unrealistic." Many of the things I'd like to see are unrealistic because they're either too big or not popular enough. As much as I'd like to see an SR-71, I don't think it's likely, because it's too damned big (although I suppose the fuselage and wings could be made in sections ...) Likewise, because my dad was an engineer at Vought in those days, I'd live to see an F-8 or an A-7, but I don't think those planes are popular enough to be subjects for 1/18. SO, in my "realistic" category, and going back in time:

I'd like to see a Jill, a Pearl Harbor Val, a Ki-30 Ann, an Airacobra (Guadalcanal P-400 is my preference), an early 1942 Kingfisher, a Do 335A, and a Hawker Typhoon bubbletop.

However, these do serve a purpose and sometimes, the manufacturers listen and wishlist items do become a reality - take the 1:18 Zero and F-14 for example.

I'll keep my list to popular and plausible aircraft that have either made it to prototype stage but not mass production by certain manufacturers, aircraft that have been proposed by certain manufacturers, or planes that could so easily be made its a shame they haven't been made already. In no particular order...

Gosh, I certainly did! The Dauntless!

...and I forgot the F-15 and SU-27. JSI has those.

I am not into planes as I am into choppers, and I find they can 'go together' with figures in a diorama rather than jets.

-UH-1 Iroquois with optional M60s or M134s for the side gunners and rocket pods

And for something different, how about a 'battle damaged' variant of each? Have a few bullet holes and cracks in the windshield, and you're all set to have a crashed or weary bird in a dio.

I'm done collecting 1/18 planes, (no more room for them),
a Mosquito is the only plane I'd make space for.

Nevermind, found the hornet and harrier and they look pretty lame compared to the JSI Tomcat. I'm talking about real models here, static display pieces, not toys.
