wow, that is really sweet!! I have been around this forum long enough to remember the excitement and then disappointment that C21 never came through on this Item. If they did produce it back when it was first announced what do you think it would have cost? it has to be about 5 or 6 years ago. would it have cost more than the Huey?? The first Huey I bought was around $35-40 retail....t

The PBR MK 2 is the version we saw in "Apocalypse Now".
Really looking good.
For those into Riverine operations, Squadron/signal publications has a pictorial book: "Riverine. A Pictorial History of the Brown Water War in Vietnam".
One of my favorites.

I recommend it highly.

The actual numbers are a little fuzzy. The first contract for a PBR was for 120 boats of the Mark 1 type. The Mark 11 replaced the Mark 1. Just a foot longer but wider and better armed. Just from the number of pics available I would say the Mark 11 was produced in greater numbers until the Mark 11 was replaced by Swift Boats, a totally different design.
During the Vietnam war, there were dozens of designs put into use of gun boats, monitors, landing craft (armored and unarmored). Pics are available but total production numbers are harder to find.
The PBR Mk 11 carried all types of weapons, from machine guns to mortars, 20mm guns, flame throwers and recoilless rifles. They were kind of like PT boats in late WW2, when everything a commander thought he could use, was mounted, machine guns, cannons, rockets.

big question is how would these 1/20th boats look with 1/18th Vietnam figures???

they would look ok. Not exact but ok. Given that 21c's figures are a bit on the large side it would make matters a bit worse but i think unless you directly compared to pictures of the real thing it would not be very noticable. The figure's height would be the biggest problem.
Looking forward to a review Big Duke.
