Armor
I cut the armor off and made 4 figures a while ago, its a great deal of work,, cutting, grinding, sanding...most are just heads on nunchuck.
I have some old pics on webshots album name romans.
I have lots of now headless roman bodies, if I can find a easier way to use the armor I will make more. I think if I had a small bandsaw, like from micromark tools I could cut the armor off. For now I am going to move on to something else

Here's an interesting message board thread on Testudos, their use and effectiveness etc. Some links with pics of reenactors in testudo formation. Cool stuff.

Hey Ferg,
Nice site mate thank`s for the ref material
Tomd,
As another source for Roamn, have you tried using parts from the deadite Roman (Ash Army of Darkness range from Mcfarlane).
The armour can actually be prised off so you can then with some care & skill put onto another figure.
Just another option mate for more Romans
I myself have only a few:- 2 chariots,4 legionaires,Centurian & a Tribune.
Still I did them when I first saw your`s.

Wow, great stuff, any pics of the legionnaires by themselves? BTW a little OT here but I've been pretty hooked by Simon Scarrow's 'Eagle' fiction series of two Roman legionnaires. You can check out his page and more info on the books at the link below, pretty good reading IMO;

the main reason I did all the cutting/pasting was to get articulated roman figures..papo romans only come in 3 poses.

crosshairs
I used all the crosshair's for custom modern figures, there were no firefly's.. I bought just the two-packs with the crosshairs.

thank's
thank's again to all for the nice comments,, I wanted to do the Roman Turtle for a long time,,I had to glue the feet down on the outside figures, I kept having the domino effect as I added the last few shields. I always use amaizing goop for my stuff because it never gets fully hard and it is easily removed to go onto the next display...
I am so happy that I found a place to post my stuff where there are no Snobby Artsy fartsy types who think everything has to have a museum quality paint job...
Many thanks to all those old time Ground-Pounder's for keeping this forum alive...tom
