I almost have the end caps done. With some teaking and few little details that I need to add , they will be done.

I have little pegs in the back of the caps that fit into the aligning holes of the wings.

A couple of guys have asked if I would sell the kit without the wings. By making these end caps the wingless version will be available :D

This way you can display the 229 without the wings and put it on a shelf.

Also by going wingless, this is the condition that the Americans found this wonder weapon and it can be displayed just as they found it . That will take the fantasy element out of the ole' gal .

Just think of the dio possibilities :D

Well I think that I have the wing about 99% done.
I just need to dress up the nav light area and it is a wrap.
I finished the ailerons and flaps with their panel lines.
Slowly but surely she is getting done.
Hell or high water she will be done for Christmas.

Things left to .

Finish cockpit area
finish main wheel wells
finish wing caps.
fine tune everything.

After this is all done prep parts for casting. :D

8) 8) 8)

I know alittle trick that will make them movable

you attach the flap to the wing with a little pin that can be removed from both the flap and the wing

make two sets of pins, one set it straight great for in flight look (hanging up)

the other set is bent at around a 45 degree angle, (flaps all down - wheels down look)

Or you can get r/c hinges. But that will be up to the builder.

My full builds will be static. In line or posed. Buyers choice.

Remember I am trying to keep the price down.

I had all intentions of making this as simple as possible.

That ain't working so well. :?

When its complete you should submit a summary story to FSM magazine or others, I know this project will make the cover!

Amen, brother!

I know there's a developing sense of urgency as you get to the point where you can see that little light at the end of the tunnel. I know you won't let your legions of fans make you go faster than you should. Just like Michelangelo ignored Pope Julius II hollering up from the floor of the Sistine Chapel, you'll just keep creating your masterpiece. We're just lucky you let us come in and peek around the scaffolding to see you work ...

I have no doubt that FSM would do an article on this build. Now that would really spread the word about this fantastic kit. Stunning work.

Yep, and just think, you get the issue, frame it, and hang it on the wall next to where your Horton is hanging! or next to where the area you have it wheels down on display!

Mathew I think you have a winner here. As soon as I get mine I intend on starting it so I will have pictures of the finished product if you need them.

Jon, I think thats a great idea......and would make a hell of a cover story.
It might just wake up the 1:18 sleeping giants. That would give Pickel a lot more work. I think thats what the flykid was saying.....

That is great news. :D

One more thing that is getting done !!!!

Yep Normandy I said it. Prep for casting. But please do not start holding your breath.

As far as Fine Scale Modeling goes that has always been a dream of mine . To submit my stuff and have an article made of it .But I am sure that will never happen.

Guys who submit those articles are well rounded master modelers. My skills are limited ( if I can say I have any ) I love the build portion of modeling .That is what I would say my skills are limited in. My finishing skills are getting better.

Even as a kid I would build a model slap decals on in and call it done. I think my skills as a finisher would get better with time. But that is what I do lack , time.

I do my best to get product out so you guys can have the fun in building your own projects. I do have some dear friends who help me out in building my kits for me !! And other friends who make accoutrements that accent my kits.

Thank you guys for that.

These guys are the one's who should contribute their modeling skills to FSM.

Pickle dude... Like it would hurt to try????????????????/
http://www.finescale.com/The%20Magazine ... azine.aspx

We all beg you to do it! Well, I do. :P

You don't have to finish/paint it. Just show the assembled unpainted resin kit!!! I bet you could sell quite a few of these. I mean, A FREAKING 1/18 SCALE RESIN HO229 FOR $300!!!! 0_0 I mean. CHINA can't do it that affordable. :P

I think you should do it! It would be just an amazing thing to see it on the front page of FSM! Ibet it would make it there too.!!!

.........too late dude, I've already turned blue...................
Matthew, you have to do this, the quality of your work needs to be seen by others.
As I said above, this 229 project might wake up the sleeping 1:18 giants.
Your custom work over the years has been geared towards the modeler / collector, you've done polls.......thats something they should look into.

With the portfolio of 1:18 projects you have, you could make a few submissions to FSM or others. By doing so you'd expose more people to the 1:18 scale that many folks don't know about......not to mention that when the Luft '46 guys see this (229) their gonna sh!+.

The finished model....you could take Jon up on his offer or other members. I hope you do this, it would be a fitting end to this project.

Normandy.
