P-38/P-47 pilot accessory questions
P-38/P-47 pilot accessory questions
I know the pilots are identical, but did the P-47 pilots come with the accessories that the P-38 pilot had (parachute, oxygen mask, pistol, and knife)? Or were those extra pieces only exclusive to the P-38 release and the carded figure?

The P-47D Bubbletop pilot I have was painted slightly different than the P-38 pilot and did not include any of the accessories you listed.

Re: P-38/P-47 pilot accessory questions
I want to say that the pilot figure that came with my P-47 Razorback plane I got in the standard blue 21c box in 2004 (not the red Wal Mart Motorworks box from the same time) came with the accessories. Its been a few years, however, so I don't really remember...
I've gotten two P-47 Bubbletops as well and the pilots for both those planes did not have the accessories.
All pilot figures that came with the P-38s I've gotten had the accessories and the superior paint job and detailing. I've also gotten several of the carded P-38 pilots as well, namely to replace the P-47 ones

Re: P-38/P-47 pilot accessory questions
Yeah, I have both planes and yet I can't find an additional set of accessories for my P-47 Razorback pilot, so I'm thinking he never came with them. At least I found the bomb and bazooka tubes that I haven't looked at since I bought the plane years ago. The paint ops are definitely inferior, so at least it's easy to tell the two apart.

Re: P-38/P-47 pilot accessory questions
I just looked in my Peg and couldn't see evidence of tape where a figure stand, parachute, and gas mask would have originally been secured below the plastic tray. My memory of when I opened Peg was that there wasn't any accessories, which is fine ... I was / am afraid they'd fall off if I seat the pilot in the cockpit (which I've done with about 1/4 of my planes).
My Peg is a red Wal-box version.
