While at a toys b us I found a die-cast 1:18th 1967 VW.
The link is just to view a pic of it.....
http://www.diecastfast.com/diecast/DCF/ ... -67BUG-BLK While its a model of a '67, it wouldn't take much alter the rear window and make it a split window of war time era.
It's sold by Greenlight Collectibles in their Black Bandit 1:18th series.
Oh and if you go to their site you won't find it.

$43.00 total

not cheap but I've been looking for one for some time now.
Just thought I'd pass on some 1:18th intel.................

Well, it depends on how accurate you need it to look. A '67 is going to require quite a few changes to match a war-era vehicle - much more than the rear window. Bumpers, tail light cover, rear deck lid, rims, windshield wipers, etc, are all visibly different.
If you know how to tell what year a Beetle is from...

I knew there would be a few more modifications other than the rear window, to me that seemed to be the most obvious to start with.
In this link you can see a '67 and '38 side by side.

For now this is the only 1:18th beetle to work with.

Wouldn't the Maisto 1951 version be easier to use?

Yes, and although the shipping is horrible, here are 5 @ $20 each + $12.80 S/H; still better than $43:

Buy in multiple and the shipping drops!
And here is a single for $33 shipped:

A '51 is much closer to a war-era vehicle than a '67 so there will be less modding to do (like the crotch-cooler vent panels behind the front wheel on each quarter panel which a guy like me would nitpick

). Just don't buy the G-Ridez series as those are made to represent Cali-style street rods and are another headache.
