Comments on Target BBI Elite Force figures

These figures are more like GI JOE in articulation than the past BBI figures. Having said that, they aren't of the best quality.

The prototypes as pictured on the rear of the package are quite nice - very clean paint jobs, nice details, etc. The reality is a lot worse. The figures have terrible paint masking. Looks hand-painted by a 4-year old. The fleshtone paint on the faces is not thick enough so you can see the plastic color underneath. In an attempt to show weathering or realism, the figures have been painted wiped and poorly too. Watch out for overapplication that has ended up on the face. (You can't get it off either).

The figures have nice, detailed backpacks but the pegs are so short that many of them do not stay attached to the figure at all.

Assault weapon accessories are all stuff from the regular BBI line so it's of a fine quality. There are some plastic tabs on the end of the gun handles. The purpose of these are totally unknown, but they can be easily clipped off with a small pair of scissors or an exacto knife.

The figures are probably worth what you pay for them ($4.99 for a 2-pack)... but barely.

The accessory packs are another matter. They have some additional assault weapons, backpacks, and such but the majority of the sets are filled out by totally out of scale bazookas or rocket launchers. They're designed overly large so they can be plastic-dart launching. Since all of the guns are the same as those that come with the figure 2-packs, the accessory packs are probably worth skipping unless you want to waste the $4.99 just to get a water bladder in one set and a laptop computer in the other.

I picked up the A-10 mostly out of curiosity and a like of the A-10. It is pretty squatty but it does have some OK play features that kids might like. It most closely aligns with GIJoe planes that I have seen. It has a magazine behind the cockpit that loads 6 missiles that can fire from the under side of the nose. The pilot is a little better looking than PTE but no significant articulation except hips and shoulders. The helmet is attached/molded to the head. Overall the plane would be good for my twin boys to battle between the A-10 and the munchkin F-22 by Hasbro. I took some pics and will post as soon as I can.

I picked up the set with both figures having face coverings. The articulation is a little loose on these, but no worse than some GI Joes I've bought. I would probably have bought more if the face sculpts weren't such crud. I can fix painting - a bad sculpt is hopeless.
