The Future of 1/18th Scale and what can we expect...???

Gentlemen,
As an avid collector of military artifacts along with published military literature and of course my ever growing 1/18th scale collection, I have not been able to really locate any information on any up and comming subjects from any of I used to call "The Big Three". Since the demise of 21st century toys and all the problems associated with that company, JSI was the only one to come to bat and bring us something new (The Tomcat) to collect along with Pegaus offering the Bell X-1. As we all know, the first F-14's were nothing short of being spotted abominations which most of us corrected. I for one repainted and re-detailed 2 along with metal landing gear and GE nozzles. My concern as most of all of the forum members would most likely agree is what or when can we actually expect to see any thing new..? Repaints are yesterdays news and lets face it.., how many mustangs would you really collect. The paint schemes, unit numbers and nose art could fill a phone book. The last bit of news from the company "All GO Toys" which has faded into some sort of an abyss was going down this path with the "Passion Wagon" with correct nose art and kill markings. Again .., no new subjects. So in short, do any of our alumi have any info on what is happening with our beloved hobby..?? and besides taking out a second morgage on our homes to pay for customs, where are we headed.
Looking forword to your ideas and opinions.

we'll know this time next year. The economy is improving and those that have lay dormant will awaken. AllGo may yet be a factor and BBI may come back to life, in 1/18. Power Team should be producing a new batch of goodies next year, as they seem to produce new things every other year.

It ain't over til it's over and there is still demand for 1/18.

The future is that 1/18 armor is very limited compared to the volume of 1/16 kits and conversion kits and RC's. I am a completion kind of guy which means I only like a T-34 if I can park a KV-1 next to it and they both look like crap without a KV-2 next to that and all three look like crap without the SU122 and so on... One can call it a mental illness, I'm fine with that because it is. So for me the fact that I cant get a Jagdtiger, jagdpanther, elephant, kingtiger, sturmtiger, Maus, Mk III or any of the rest in 1/18 but is available in 1/16 is a killer to me, I only wish there was a company like 21st Century Toys making 1/16 figures and stowage type equipment to accompany all the armor. Even though I like looking at 1/18 better and feel like 1/16 is alittle to big and clumsy.

On the air war the "sky is the limit"
seriously I hope many more are made by someone. I love my planes and I wish that 21st Century hadn't wasted so much money and time developing crap like the bulldog or Vietnamese soldiers and made a few more planes or helicopters.

Gentlemen..,
Thank you very much for your feedback and comments. To Sir JNEWBOY your work is excellent worthy of a museum display. Very professional. I am very optimistic that perhaps one of the more recient manufacturers, ie JSI, Pegasus amd All Go Toys will bring to the table some new offerings next year that we can add to our collections. Figures are fine but what better way to display them with than the actual equpiment (aircraft, tanks, vehicles) on the battle/airfield. The economy I am sure will dictate this. Hopefully by the end of 2011 we will all have added new subjects to our collections.

Any movie buffs on the board....????? What film was this quote from and who was the actor that said it. (Hint).. he was married to Ali McGraw.

"Speed is life. Anything before or after is just waiting"
