BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!

Post by Buckyroo » Mon Nov 29, 2010 1:19 pm

Here is a prime example of why loved ones shouldn't just blindly buy Christmas gifts to benefit someone elses hobby........ All buyers need to be informed, even when just trying to be nice to that special person in their life.

I hope no one falls prey to this seller.....

Look down the listing. A seller is offering a FW-190D-9 for 800.00, a Spitfire Mk1 for 600.00, and a bubbletop P-47 for 800.00. You have got to be kidding!

Technically there is nothing wrong. He is not making anybody pay his price. I just envisioned some caring spouse, parent or child looking to get a collector a gift and getting zapped by paying 3 or 4 or more times the current going value of the 1/18 airplanes.

ah i see. Well i don't think it's a big deal. He can ask what he wants, lots of other inflated prices in the world. Doesn't mean anyone will pay it...and what child can fork out hundreds of dollars for a plane anyway? Even a tiny bit of shopping around will find prices much lower than those.

He's got "Best Offer" as well as buy it now, so make him an offer.
That "DWK" Spit is hard to get, but there's been a few lately if not some on there right now, and they won't go that high.
You never know though, there might be some rich guy where money is no object who wants it now and dosn't want to deal with the whole ebay bidding experience. More power to him if the seller can get those prices. Your either stupid or rich to pay that much.

I had that much to $$ burn I'd be eyballin' that "Tender Terror" P-51 and a few BBI Jets me thinks.

If you have $800 to spend on a kids toy or what appears to most people to be a toy, then you are not too worried about the price to begin with.

Pretty outrageous prices on those 1/18 aircraft.

But as has been said, nobody is forcing anybody to buy at these prices. Hopefully he doesn't sucker somebody into paying this much for the plane that dad, or husband needs for his collection. I am sure that is his intent, especially with Christmas coming.

Underhanded, yes. And hope it doesn't work. But if someone is stupid enough to fall for this, then I don't really for sorry for them. "A fool and his money, are soon separated".

It's more likely that someone would buy one of the PTE Blackhawks that's labeled as a BBI 1/18 or one of the PTE True Heroes F22s also labeled BBI 1/18 or 21st in the title. If someone was looking for a gift and knew there giftee was into 1/18 they'd not be getting what they think.

This has been common practice on ebay. Another thing I hate is when sellers list a plane for a low price but charge $50 for shipping when it is normally $20-30 tops.

I picked up a DWK spitfire for $103.00 last month. I see inflated prices all the time but just dont hit the BIN button and especially the next confirm button. Right now I am seeing lots of great deals for 1/18. I just hit the BIN button and picked up Ultimate soldier Old crow 1/18 for 49.00 and $12.00 shipping costs.
