Question on unknown XD pieces?

Post by momaw nadon » Sat Jul 30, 2005 11:08 pm

I found some pictures of some XD items that I have never seen before on 21st C web site? If you look in my website under XD unknown you will see them. There is a Tan Kubel and Tactical Jeep, plus a winter 251 Halftrack and a different paint shemed Sherman. If anyone has any information on them that would be great. I just wondering if they were never released, why are they in the 21st C archives?

I wish someone would start an more accurate photo achive with everything item pictured and that is comes with.

Also has anyone noticed that the Sky Captain P-40 is in stock at Bad Cat. I wonder if it includes a pilot, or is it just the plane? It isn't worth that much if it doesn't.

XD archive

Post by digger » Sun Jul 31, 2005 9:40 am

No pilot in the Sky Captain P-40 - I could just see that whiney Jude Law claiming it was his likeness and demanding royalties....

The archive is often filled with mystery pieces; sometimes the photos go up and then come right down when they don't belong. It is a little misleading for the new collector who wonders about this stuff. I still think we should consider an XD archive on this site - especially since there is no link to the 21st site on here. :? We have the manpower and the XD to do it right too, NIB/OOB, critiques, tips, cautions (think Corsair wings), and we could be more critical than 21st would ever be on their own site. Think how cool the RAH Joe archive is - I want one

As you know none of the four items in your account ever came out. S5 sherman may be the Bridge Too Far M4, who knows. The winter hanomag was shown a while back and I hope they make - we could use it. :) The tan Tactical Vehicle is no loss, and I'm hoping the tan Kubel is on the way too. It could pave the way for some AK troops or maybe a Desert Fox packed in with an 88 8) Ok, I'm getting ahead of myself but you get the idea.

I figured that, but I like to check. Plus I'm with you on all the points.

As for that RAH Joe archive, I don't think I have ever seen it. What would be the address or website? Thanks

Yeah, the photo archive is a definite work in progress. Actually though it will get better in time.

As for the 1:18 Sky Captain pilot figure. Digger is correct that it was announced that it would not come with a pilot due to legal processes. However I was just mailed mine and it turns out it does come with the same pilot figure as the other P-40's with one exception, there are no patches or other marks on the jacket. and obviously it doesn't look like Jude Law. It was nice to see it is shipping with a figure.

it's odd what pieces that were showing in that list. For a long time there was a sdkfz 222 armored car in the list (not sure it it's still there). But there was no pak 40 mentioned, which was also worked on at one point by 21c.

May be a reflection of how far along in the development phase a piece got. The sdkfz 222 may have been a lot closer to production than the pak.

Anyway, here's hoping we see them both and a lot more in time. With the current upswing we are seeing in armour that may just be a possibility now... :)

tko211,
How about pulling some strings to get that winter 251 and AK Kubel?

I seen the listing for the 222, but there was no picture. That would be another cool piece to be made.

I really hope that they get around to some of the neater things we have seen prototypes of. New stuff is always welcome. I know not everybod here is a big fan of repaints but I could sure go for some DAK repaints. Am I the only one who wishes for DAK?

I'd like to see Afrika korp tpoops and vehicles, along with armor. A 1/18th 88 would be fantastic. Now the Sdkfz 222 is a must. Heck I'd like to see the 32X and Cold Steel lines scaled up to XD. :D

digger,
I visit that site once in a while. Their archives are the best for GI joes. That is what we need for 21st C XD, bbi 1/18th, and Dragon Action 18. That would be excellent.
