Looks like a couple of pretty good deals, based on what I have seen these planes go for...

...and to think that back in the day there were "Graff" Bf-109s languishing on the shelves at two of my local Wal Marts for months until they were discounted to below $30.

Just wondering, if everyone here knew how prices for these are going for now compared to $30 then, would you have the foresight and cleaned out the shelves of Spitfires, F-16s, BF-109s at walmarts and TRUs?

Would you risk being branded a hoarder/scalper and what would've been a realistic amount of multiples you would've carted home?

Just a hypothetical fantasy question, not meant to depress anyone :D

I have much "Left it on the shelf and walked away" remorse.... Those are memories that I just want to suppress.

If I had known that 21st would go out of business or molds would be lost, I would have hoarded just to have them. I don't think that I would have done it as a money making scheme. I would plan on more customs or I would like to think that I would have been happy to resell here or in other locations for member's benifit and not just profit.

And that Rall looks to be in great shape.

Thanks for the heads up 456THBG.

I wish I had now! At the time, I already had a "Graff" '109 and the abundance of the planes was backlogging newer releases such as the improved "Hackl" and "Sahl" Bf-109s plus the USAF and German F-104s that were appearing in other parts of the country. If some of my older posts from the time still exist, you can easily see my frustration about the lack of new products  The planes sat around at full price for months and then went on clearance. My Hobbytown even had the "Graff" Bf-109s and they sold slowly.

Again, I once had a Graff 109, but traded it when I picked up the Hackl and Sahl 109s. The Graff plane did not have all the little details that the later models had. Sort of wish I had not done that now

That's another thing I love about this forum! You've got a lot of folks sharing good deals when they see them (unless, of course, they need it themselves :D )
That's not a bad deal for Galland's 109...No, it's not like the "Walmart Era" prices, but by today's standards, not a bad price.
On one of the other posts, the discussion is what scale to start with? Members sharing deals they see, can really help new collectors get started as reasonably as possible.
Great Forum!

Saw some pretty good deals go down this week on ebay - A 21C 1/18 109 Galland and a 109 "Spinach" went, used but in good condition, for under $100 each.
Now, this is good news for new collectors who are looking for some of the rarest 1/18 planes at very affordable pricing! If you're looking for MIB, there are still some reasonable deals on these planes, but I got most of my rarest 1/18s off of ebay, in used but good condition, and you can't tell the difference once they're out of the box!

I don't think it was ever a matter of not having "foresight", it was more a matter of thinking " I already have a couple of 109's, why do I need more" or "if I get more 109's, where in the world will I put them". I believe thats what most people were thinking when the shelves were full of planes. I only have one 109 and thats because it was the least favorite plane of all the planes I bought.
