here are some pics of the ASIATAM Kubelwagen. Full metal (except seats, wheels and top cover) and ready to be RC fitted. I purchased mine 165€ ( $187USD ). Weight is a bit more than 1 kilo.
The wire you can see on the floor (pics 3) is for the headlights.
It's a great model and I thanks my wife for this cool Valentine's gift :D

Looks Cool!! Do you have a 1/18 Kubelwagen? I would love to see them next to eachother to get a size comparison.

How are the Trumpeter and Hobby Boss 1/16 tanks in terms of quality? I found a few T-34s on ebay for a good price, and now that I know how to build a kit well, I'd be up to giving them a try.

If anyone has built one, let me know!

Hi Jnewboy,

I don't have a 1/18 21st Century kubel so I put a Sherman alongside. Hope this will help you to estimate the size.

Thanks Paul. Everything is interesting him :D

By looking at the last picture looks like there is plenty of room on the back seats for the figures legs compared to my 21st century kubelwagen.
I curious to see how the 1/18 scale figures fit.
Thanks for the pictures, i think this is what i need for my figures.

Here's a few photos of the Heng Long Abrams. It's nicely detailed. A few notes, the add on parts are interesting as there seems to be multiple coats of paint, a metallic coat and then the desert yellow.

The turret rails are a flexible plastic, unpainted. There's a bit of a gap where the side rails and the back should meet.

The add on parts seem to fit really well. Seems like a lot of the sprue points could have been placed to be less visible. Doesn't seem like the commander's machine gun has any handles. The assembly instructions show them in the illustrations, but no instructions or part number for them. Not in their photos.

And the figure

My Hobby Engine Abrams has not been aging well. The rubber tracks have hardened and stretched and the metal replacement tracks are rather pricey. Been looking for a replacement, which arrived today.

Added the tank commander, logs, and small stowage to the Sherman. I think it looks better now.

1/16 AA gun, any resemblance to a real AA gun or potential to convert? Anybody got one?

That AA gun looks more like a small G.I.Joe accessory than any real gun I've ever seen.

Nothing like the really fancy work pictured above, however, I opened up the commander's hatch on my Merit 1:16 scale T-34/85 and started adding some other small details. Overall, it was relatively easy to remove using a razor saw. My goal is to have a scale figure (or half-figure) in the hatch to give the model some more liveliness.

Hi guys,

more pics of my models. They are all base painted and are now on the file to the airbrush station then weathering and so on.

First is a Panther G from Tamiya modified to be an early version used by the 116th PZD in Normandy.

Image

Image

Ready for the camo workshop, two king tiger from Tamiya :

Image

The Porsche turret version will be from Panzer Leher and Henschel on from the 101 s.ss.pz.abt from the Leibstandarte. The one that was distroyed after a night of hard fight in Jemappes, a few miles from where I live.

Then a M4 with 75mm gun and T46 metal tracks. Will be in the 3rr AD Spearhead.markings. Turret and gun shield are from Nick Aguilar.

Another M4 with Nick Aguilar turret :

Here is a Stug III with metal tracks and sprokets. The hardest work will be adding the waffle zimerit pattern on it.

Image

A view on the tracks tensionner and the detailed track guide.

And finaly, the sdkfz9 FAMO :

Compared to the king tiger, the FAMO is showing his huge size !

Great collection specially the Asiatam Famo. I am a big fan of 1/16 WWII.
I am saving money for the new 1/16 r/c Puma.

Thanks mate :D

The R/C Puma is very tempting but so much money for a kit mainly made from plastic is in my opinion a bit excessive. Puma is 700€ and Famo is 600 fully builded and all made of metal. But one never know...

Here are a few pics of the True Heroes 1:16 scale RC M1A1 Abrams tank with some basic mud and dust weathering. In the 1980s and 1990s, there were both US Army and USMC M1A1s with all-green paint jobs, so my tank is reasonably accurate... Lots of custom potential with this vehicle :D

So I'm going through my toy closet and I took out my 1/16 Mato M4A1 (76) which has been boxed up since I got whenever that was...

Questions: Do the battery packs go bad if you don't use them regularly?

2) My turret and gun do not move and the electronics were doing weird stuff.

So I took it apart and man what crappy quality wiring and electrics! So I'm gonna reflow as much solder connections as i can and reassemble and see what happens. I'm assuming broken wires or cold solder joint

I checked Mato site and did not see any replacement electrics for this particular tank.

Update: found why the airsoft doesn't work. the gear on the motor shaft is cracked. A lot of wires are just breaking off too. lots of stuff to fix. I suppose I can go to the hobby shop and see if they have gears.

Yeah, they will go bad eventually.

There are hobby forums out there with battery aficionados who debate the fine arts of battery maintenance and long term storage at length.

Would it be possible to repair the cracked gear?

Hobbytown in our area is a shell of what it used to be... can't believe all the drone stuff.
No gears sets. so I ordered two heng long turret motor units to scrounge gears/motors off. The Mato ones are different but do the same function so I assume gears will be the same. Not much $$ anyway

Hi guys,

I am back with more pics fom my 1/16 collection. Camos are made for the Panther G, King Tiger Henchel and Kubelwagen. Next will be the FAMO, King Tiger Porsche and Sturmtiger. Once all done, weathering and so on will start. I will also add all pieces missing on pics as armored exhaust cover, tow cable, Tools, etc...
I have also made a Hooben T-55 for a friend. This kit was a real mess with bad modled pièces (some where even molded partly in the sprue !) and I had to order missing pieces in Hong Kong and redo some myself. Anyway, painting is slowly giving him a real feeling.
Hope you will like what you see.

First, KT 113 from 101st SS schwere pzb Abt. and part of the Leibstandarte SS AH. This one was abandonned in Jemappes (6km from where I live) on september 3 1944. Imobilised due to mechanical failure then uesd as a roadblock as the beast was still abble to fire. Crew escaped during the night. One member wounded was taken prisoner from a Belgian Gendarme that was my ex neighbour and told me the story. Other escaped. By the end of the war the usha was captured in Germany by US forces. Don't know what happened to the other.

Image

Image

Then a Panther G from 116 pzd Windhund. One of those who escaped the Falaise Pocket and crossed river Seine near Rouen in august 1944.

Image

Kubelwagen will be from Leibstandarte too.

Image

And finaly an Iraqi T-55 during first Gulf War.

The camo and weathering on them is fantastic!! I'm glad to see your work again.
I hope all is well.

Thanks a lot for your comments guys :D

But I made a big mistake on my KT. I put small sized number instead of biger one. So I had to redo camo and number. Now it's perfect ! BTW, I also sprayed tracks. Now 113 is ready for weathering and so on.

Image

Here is the Panzer Lehr Porsche King Tiger.

Image

And the FAMO.

Things are going better for me Normandy. Thanks for asking. Even if I have to deal with all collateral damages made by tumors, it seems radiotherapy finaly made the job. Next NMRI are for june 2016, june 2017, june 2018 and june 2019. If results will be good then we can say I won the battle against cancer.
