Good Recon Ranger
At least it really won't cut into the market for a realistic version.
I wonder the price because you see the new Little Bird there which somehow looks worse (just me?) and was only 20 bucks to begin with. How much could it be now? The pack-in figures with the Little Bird look good though - pretty close to standard uniforms.
I realize what makes these new guys like the Corps - they're non-removable headgear.

I'm glad 1:18 is alive and well I just wish blue box didn't sell out to Target by creating a PTE line while still milking the 'Elite Force' name. So much for bbi's "independence" - they got bullied into pissing on their goodwill by Target like any other company. :(

well.....i think parts of it are 1/18. The engines look about 1/18 and maybe the canopy too, if it's the right profile.

It looks like a 1/18 A-10 that smoked when it was a kid and had its growth stunted..

It's frustratingly close. Probably not as stumpy as it looks in the box when you add the tail. Anyone who likes Joe aircraft and vehicles will probably like this. Tomd may do one of his splice to to make one projects. It's in the box upside down for some reason....you can see the pilot figure in the top right corner. These are Target exclusives i believe. Hopefully someone will find one soon and give a first hand report.

It's so close i wish they'd gone all the way...

I like the paintjob on the A-10, just its not the full size. Also whats with that littlebird? They degenerated a perfectly good design! I would have gobbled this stuff up had it been released 5-6 years ago before XD and the regular BBI Elite Force came out. Still, some of the figures do look decent.

I guess BBI felt this more "immature" military line would sell better with young children - and they are the real target for any toy company, save perhaps 21c. BBI's real 1:18 line, while having some simply awesome figures and vehicles, is too complicated (in terms of detail and parts to break off & loose) for many young children who would simply bust a $60 helicopter, break off the soldier's arms, and loose all the little pistols & grenades.

Besides, the actual BBI 1:18 line is not dead - board members are already finding Corsairs, and earlier this year we had the P-51, Sherman tank, Kiowa helicopter, Super Hummer, and the Army & Marine figure repaints at TRU as well as the Pavehawk, F-16 and F-18 repaints with small retailers.

It looks like they teamed up with PTE or Soldier Force or both. Look at the Buggy - bbi had a perfectly good one, but went out of their way to include that thing :? No way they took the time to mold a new, worse vehicle. The atv looks just like PTE's.

The Hummer however looks like the original bbi version from the little we can see of it. Hopefully there are some other cool extras in that package.

$5 for the weapon sets is steep seeing as how the 'real' ones were also 5. Ten bucks for the LB w/ figs isn't bad I guess.

It looks like a bunch of old and new Chap Mei stuff with an Elite Force graphic on the boxes. Could be bootlegs. Didn't Chap mei boxes show a stunted A-10 on the back last fall?

Definately not the Chap Mei A-10 which is more proportioned than the A-10 in the picture

WOW!!!! If that is what the future of BBI stuff is gonna look like it will be a shame for a company that prides itself on total realism to offer a product like that! :(

BBI deliberately made the A-10 product as a toy. It is sold only through Target. I don't think it has any relationship to its other offerings. I'm actually surprised they used the "Elite Force" name, what a shame to muddy the waters.

so keep your gripes & complaints....any 1/18 is better than no 1/18 at all!

Still... there is a level we have come to expect from BBI... and this falls well short. I mean... we've seen there is a 21st 1:18 A-10... and we know BBi can do the big stuff in super detail (F-18, F-16, etc). So it does fall very short. I'm more into the collecting for detailed accurate scale aircraft toys... not GIJoe aircraft.

We've seen there is a 21st 1/18 A-10 but getting them to produce it is the problem. BBI is the only one at this point that has been willing to take on aircraft of the A-10's size. They have the capability to do the A-10 in 1/18 scale. The box they have should be big enough. The question is why haven't they?

Exactly... if they are willing to go with a F-18 and F-16... why not a F-14, Super Hornet, A-10, etc? They just seem not to really care.

Form the information I have recieved, bbo making 1/18 planes was done at the suggestion of the owner's son. Kind of like he pestered him and finally the old man let him have his way. Maybe this accounts for the good aircraft we have had and the rest of the corporate structure accounts for the new toyish line?

I agree with you P. When BBI revealed the Corsair they stated something to the effect that among all the aircraft they have had requested of them, it was the one they chose to do. Where are all these numerous request coming from? Now the rumor is that they may be attempting to produce an F-15 next year. I know we are a small group here but I sure don't recall many request for an F-15. The A-10, F-14, and F-4 seem to be the most popular modern jets that people have on their wish list. But I guess that no one from BBI monitors this forum. If they did maybe we'd here more directly from them. 21st has done a fantastic job of keeping in touch and listening to this forum. We know they listen to us and even care about what we have to say and want. I know we can't hold our breath, but I believe we will see the A-10 and others from 21st in due time. We just have to keep the faith and keep expressing our want. Just like the Zero. Who knows though, with the way BBI dosen't talk, the F-15 might be a smoke screen for an A-10.
