Possible new BBI stuff at Target

There's a thread on joecustoms on the link below with pics though I'm inclined to think these are fakes since false packaging on knockoffs is a common practice here in the far east, that said this is only an assumption of mine so make of that as what you will

I saw a bunch of these at the opening of a SuperTarget here today, I gave them a cursory glance but the packaging resembled those awful Walmart the Corps figures and that cheapo line TRU carries so I didn't linger.
I'll go pick some up when I wake up today, the weapons looked pretty good at least. Report back later.
good intel

Yes, as the Ranger said - Good Intel
A few of those guys look like they would "fit right in" with our bbi modern guys and the articulation looks great. Price is great too and you get bbi weapons....some of the gear looks like PTE stuff...but it seems they went out of their way to make the stuff look like the Corps.

I guess it is their answer to that line but as said the packaging really detracts.
But it does say "Elite Force" which means that A-10 might indeed be an "elite force" item yet not totally accurate.
I'm happy for the fodder though - it looks like Soldier Force meets the Corps.

Well other than the thread on joecustoms, I have no info on these as I've not seen them in my part of the world. I guess we'll get better pics when someone on this board gets hold of them.

Yeah, you got a point there. I wonder if bbi decided to cheapen the entire line of Elite Force items to save on production costs..... This would be a sad turn of events.......

bbi at Target

Good reason to start going back to Target! Good price, from the pics the articulation looks good-at least better than their earlier versions where, if you didn't run them under hot water first, their wrists would break off, twist their head-and that would fall off, etc. AND at least this goes to show that maybe 1/18 isn't dead or near death after all! So good for bbi! Keep the 1/18 coming out no matter what the version! Hmmm, maybe if these guys do well at Target, we might see some WWII figures in these packages!

I agree with Ski, this would be a sad turn of events if this is where the Elite Force line is headed. That means the realism and detail goes down the drain. I hope that the aircaft and armor we've been getting from BBI wonn't got his route, especially an A-10.....

*Gulp* do you think this is an effort to replace Joes on the pegs? The similarities are there from the "suped up" figures based on real stuff, the Joe, er, crotch....and gaudy packaging.
I hope they do both - the high end realistic and this lower end stuff too

Maybe that's how production is at capacity.
Sweet 1:18, how could I ever stay mad at you?

I've been to a few targets now with nothing in sight! *sigh* Hope this isn't another one of those 'West Coast is the last to get them' things. I just want to see this A-10!

Hello,
new intel on the bbi new line & the A-10:
It seems like the new bbi/Target line is going to start showing around the 30 & 31st of July if not just at the beginning of August 2005.
The price of the A-10 seems like is going to be $19.99, which is not bad for an airplane of its kind.
take care.

Saw these today at two different Targets, the first one had the figure and weapon packs, and the second one had the vehicle sets.
The DCPI # for the figure set is 087061505 and 087061504 for the weapon set, according to my receipt.
Well the figures I think are not too bad, I picked up the Marines, Army Delta, and Army Ranger sets (the other three are Night Ops, Green Beret, and Force Recon) and the "Recon" Combat Gear (the other one is "Assault"). I think they are higher quality than the Elite Operations, Corps, etc. figures, but not quite up to the regular Elite Force figures. BTW this line seems to be dubbed "Combat Command" to differentiate it from bbi's regular line.
Mostly I think the faces are the weak point here, which seem overly exaggerated and cartoonish, but at $5 for 2 figs and accessories, I think they could make good background troops to fill out the ranks.
The vehicles sets though looked like crap, frankly. They're all completely undersized and lack any detail whatsoever. There were two different sets, I forget the names, but there were a couple of ATV's, the dune buggy and Little Bird, a helicopter that looked like a Comanche, and an APC. Also on the back of the figure packagiing theres a Super Humvee shown, though I don't recall seeing that one in either of the sets. No A-10 at either store, so I can't comment on that one.
Anyway, final verdict, stay clear of the vehicles but the figures aren't too bad. I imagine GI Joe fans might get into these.

Finally got back to Target, sorry guys for the delay. Anyway, I spent a good long time examining these and I just couldn't spend the money on them. They're a step above the Corps figures but it's a baby step. I went back to TRU and got a couple BBi navy seals I needed instead, it's like night and day.
Also I don't know if this was reported elsewhere but a buddy of mine in Los Angeles spotted the new BBi paratroopers at TRU tonight.

In case anyone was still unsure, this was posted in another thread at Joe customs.com-:
"Dear -----,
Thank you for your message. Please note that this is a special line
developed and sold specifically for Target Stores and that they have less
features than our regular Elite Force items.
Best Regards,
bbi Customer Relations - CL "
From this thread:
A Letter from BBi
I hope this means they will still make the high quality figs. These aren't great, but for the price, they ain't bad.
Also, for anyone having trouble finding these, make sure you check the Hot Wheels isle. That's where I found them at my local store.
Digger, I think you're right. I think these are in Target because G.I.Joe is out. The little Joes were popular, and Target knows it. So they're trying to fill that area with these.
But this brings up another question: Where is 21st in all this?
bbi at Target, XD at WM, so long lil Joes....

At WM.

And I have a feeling that before Xmas you will be able to get XD at places you never imagined
Right now it makes good sense one is at WM and one at Target.
I'm also not too discouraged about the bbi Target line - if it pays the bills and streamlines the the high-end "elite force" then so be it. Just think how our number one excuse for crappy product (from any Co.) is "these are toys" - hopefully by selling the "toys" at discount rates in Target they can keep the "collectibles" coming our way.

And to bbi's credit, $40 for that Corsair is a damn good price - $15 less than the same scale bird was in the same store 3 years ago.
Ski, I will try to copy a pic and post the link - but just think really small, minimal detail but correct shape, and camo scheme that is half real, and half FUN!
