Here in the UK Hachette have just launched new part work which enables you to build, in monhly installments, a 1/16 late model Tiger I.

Each monthly installment will cost about UK pounds 20.00 ($30.00) over a period of perhaps a year, perhaps longer.

The model is a mixture of metal and plastic with small details in photo-etch. The model has to be painted. I think construction would require a high level of modelling skills - heaven knows what happens if you lose or break a part. Each issue comes with a DVD instruction DVD. Mind you , if you manged to finish it you would have a high level of satisfaction. However, it might be cheaper to save money over the same period of time and buy an FOV model Tiger in the same scale.

In fact looking at photos and ads for the Tiger it looked awefully like the FOV model!

And a 1/32 Lancaster bomber, Fokker Triplane and 1/200 Bismark. In general, looks like it's going to be VERY expensive. 140 weekly issues (nearly 3 years) for the Tiger and how much per on-going issues?

I'm not sure my skills, age or energy level would be up to the task. My initial concern was getting six months into the model and then the company going belly up or pulling the plug on the project. The ww2tiger domain expires in June 2011.

Appears to be part of French publisher Hachette (the domain is registered to an address in France), that's a big corporation that's been around for a long time. Don't think they'll go under, but I've always considered them primarily a publisher.

Hachette Partworks, I wonder if they're manufacturing the kit or rebranding another company's model?

Sure wish it was a King Tiger.

Doesn't look like this is available in the US.. :(
Q : How can I get copies if I live outside the UK or Republic of Ireland?
A : We are sorry, but at the moment we cannot send copies outside the UK and R.O.I.

Not sure how many people that the project could hold their interest for that long.

Really cool. looks to be based off of the FoV Tiger, can tell by the interior for sure. (though extra pieces like the ammo and ammo bins, among other small details, are new to this one)

Very Nice, I'm just curious if anyone has tried any of the Tamiya RC tank models and if they were satisfied with the results.
