Found this on the Red Eagle Custom Website today:
8/3/10
Some great news to annouce today! We have just made an agreement with an overseas distributor to receive the new Hobby Boss 1/18 SBD Dauntless kits in late December. The models will be far from toyish with many exciting details. Each kit will be professionally built by us with several paint schemes available. The best part, you the customer will be the one that dictates what scheme you want! The Dauntless will be available in 4 forms, the SBD-1, SBD-2, SBD-3, and the A-24 Banshee of the US Army. Price is yet to be determined and we will start accepting preorders once we receive the confirmation that the kits are in production. If anyone would like to place their name on the list for one of these great planes, just drop us an email.

Well Admiral had their chance time and time again. I hope if it does get released by whoever it comes in prewar colors. I've always liked that scheme.

Hard to get too excited, so many rumors never bear fruit...But, you never know when one might just stick...

Very interesting.
"professionally built" does sound expensive though.
The price will have a large part of the decision in whether I am considering this model, or not.
But good news. Thanks for posting this JOC.

All I know of this is what I have posted. I copied it from their website, just Google
Red Eagle Customs and you will find it. No pictures except some drawings they are showing. As far as what schemes it looks like the buyer picks what he wants.
This is a departure from what he does now. You will see all the Japanese Float Planes he has made for sale. No custom is going to be cheap anymore.
I'm sure if you emailed them, they might shed more light on what's going on.

JOC,
I can't find this site anywhere. I did a search and got nothing like a model company. Can you add a link, or let us know what the web site address is? Many thanks, and check you PM.
