ZERO!

Post by Rogue » Mon Jul 18, 2005 10:25 am

So is it a A6M3 Model 32 "Zeke"?

Thats what it looks like to me.

I never thought they would pick a clipped wing 32.

I'm so excited!

PLEASE 21st - My only request . . .

Put enough DIHEDRAL into the thing !

Please let those flat wing days of the early 109's, P-51's and all the P-40's be GONE FOREVER ! ! !

PS - the Spit could have used a bit more too!

Allied Code Name

Post by Charlemagne » Mon Jul 18, 2005 8:14 pm

Rogue,

I could be mistaken but the allied code name for the A6M3 was "Hamp". "Zeke" was the allied code name for the A6M fighters in general. So either way, I think your in the ballpark.

I would sure like to see a "good" Zero. I would violate my rule against planes to get a Zero to fight my P-51 and Avenger.

Oh, wait a minute, I forgot..... my Avenger has been on pre-order for fourteen months, waiting for 21C to "tweak" it a "little". And oh, I forgot my S1 P-51 I sold due to problems with that release.

What is it with 21C. The few planes I really like and would buy they seem to have "problems" with  Where is Deep Throat when you need him to dig into this problem.

Please don't get me wrong. I love what 21C produces. The 21C 1/6 weapons and vehicles are so far ahead of Series One stuff, that it is like comparing S1 stuff to GI Joe. They have risen the bar, with the new 1/18 figures and I look forward to great new stuff from them BUT, as far as planes go, I'll lean back at a new release until I read what you plane guys think of it when you actually get your hands on it.

Nobody on this board has been shy before, so I'll wait and see.

I dont like the clipped wings

I'm not questioning the accuracy, but it is not aesthetically pleasing.

I'll probably get one, but part of their sales are as toys, and the rounded wingtips looked better to me.
Wehrmacht Toys make me smile!

I don't know why 21st would produce a prototype with the clipped wings but I certainly hope they add the rounded tips for production. If they don't, it leaves the door open for BBI to produce the more commonly recognized design.
I didn't see it mentioned in the Comicon thread, but did anybody find out when the Zeros are expected to hit the shelves? I'll be needing some of these!!!

At least we know they are taking the time to fix problems! Most companies wouldn't care... but 21st wants to have the best detail and most accurateness it can! I think instead of getting annoyed we should be pleased that they are trying so hard to get it right!

Darn straight, P-51! Its awesome to have a company that produces such great products, and has the willingness to do so. 21c has lived up to their "gold standard" time and again, IMHO.
