ME 262 ... which one?

Post by Panther F » Sun Jul 11, 2010 8:03 am

I want to get another 262 ( I do have the white $7) with a camo pattern, but cannot decide between the yellow #7 or the night fighter. Looking at pictures is much harder than up close so I thought I'd ask of those that have both which is the better looking, more preferred plane.

Thanks!

Admiral's White 8 is a really nice scheme as well! And, eventually you'll want both 21C's 262's, so keep looking for deals until you have all four.
Then, you can argue with anyone as to which of the four is the best!

I ran this same thread about a year ago or so and ultimately decided to go with the Yellow 7 - it is beautiful. Although I must admit that I also got the Night Fighter later and it is also great but I still lean toward the Yellow 7.

I prefer the looks of "Yellow 7" myself, but the nightfighter has got some great reviews.

Go for the one you like the looks of.

How well do figures fit in the Night Fighter, BTW?

From the pics I've seen, it looks like a tight fight and 21st Century doesn't always take those things into consideration.

Have to say the Yellow 7, though I may be a bit biased, as I saw the real thing in DC.
I like the detail on it a lot, but the landing gear doors broke off in 2 minutes.

Between the white 7, yellow 7, and nightfighter, I'd go with the nightfighter. I think the white 8 is the best though. :) It is the 262 that graces my floor.

Both of the 21C 262's are outstanding! Yellow 7 is my favorite but the nightfighter is so unique. In my opinion you really need to have both! :D

The cockpit on the 21C single seat fighter is roomy enough to comfortably fit the pilot figure and close the canopy with no problem. The night fighter is a little tougher on the radar operator figure... It's a pretty tight fit and your canopy pretty much touches the top of the radar operator's head. with some work it fits.

The problem with the 21c ME-262 cockpits are not the size (they are perfectly scaled) but the somewhat oversized figures. The ME-262 pilot figure fits into the cockpit of the "Yellow 7" ME-262A quite well, but on account of its size, sits a little high and has to lean back slightly to fit. The same goes for the pilot in the front seat of the "Nightfighter" ME-262B. The radar operator figure is really a tight squeeze and 21c actually made a set of removable "scrunched" legs for the figure so it could fit in the rear seat. That was a nice little touch.

I would get both 21c ME-262s since they are practically two different aircraft 8)

I don't know, the pilot section of the canopy in my nightfighter is glued shut, so I can't put anything in there. Typical 21C QC snafu. No wonder their prototypes, molds, whathaveyou go up in smoke every once in a while.
