1/18 ten years later!
Tomorrow I will have been a member here for six months! I can say I don't remember how I even found this site This got me to thinking about the last ten years, and all of the planes and armour I have collected in that time. What a long road it has been! I went back and looked at some pictures from years ago and found this one. That's my oldest son when he was just three years old. My how time flys! Has it really been ten years?

Well, Andrew knows I have been in the hobby since 2001 and although I can't say that this hobby is my longest (I have been collecting militaria since I was 10), it has been a blast.aferguson wrote:i've been in it from the beginning. Fall of 2000. Those were exciting times back then. I've never stuck with a single hobby so long in my life, as this one, and am still going strong.
Looking forward to the next 10!

Like Sk and Afergi, I have been around 21C (1/18 and then 1/6) from the "early days" and like Ski, this hobby (Toys and Dolls) isn't my longest hobby.
I started collecting 1/1 military vehicles in 1976 and gave my last two trucks to my sons in 2007.
1/18 and 1/6 toys and dollies are sure cheaper and take up far less room than the 1/1 versions....... and they don't leak oil on the display shelves.

Sometimes I am the windshield, sometimes, I am the bug.

I've been in the hobby since the fall of 2000 when I came across the S1 P-51 and ME-109 by accident at a TRU I stopped at on a road trip. I nearly flipped out with excitement at that moment... The subsequent years been a fun ride
I joined the original GP forum in the fall of 2003 and can thank the members for many interesting conversations and helping me expand my interest in the hobby, as well as my collection.
It is very hard to believe that by the fall of this year, the 1:18 hobby will be 10 years old. It has suffered some contractions as of late, but still survives

I have only been a member since January of 2008, but I watched from the outside for quite some time - even when it was Ground Pounder's. I am very happy that I became involved with 1/18 since the first time I found the P-51 and BF109 in TRU in 2000. My 1/18 hobby was sidetracked from '03 to '06 with another hobby (which is completely gone now). In that time I have some 1/18 regrets, but those feelings are also what makes me appreciate what I have been able to extract from this hobby and has given me focus on this hobby.

Collected a great many things over the years, but this has been the only collecting hobby for me that has any staying power, though the scales may vary from time to time.
