Just got Historic Aviation's summer catalogue...I guess it's the kid in me, but I still enjoy getting "fun" stuff in the mail!
Anyway, my point is that that catalogue is a real "barometer" on the world of small scale military collecting...I mean going back 3 or 4 years, it was so full of 1/18th planes & tanks that it seemed like they would never dissapear. The entire inside of the back page was devoted to 1/18th scale aircraft. Yet, in this latest issue, there are maybe 4 or 5 1/18th aircraft and possibly a few pieces of armour. The majority of the planes & tanks are 1/72 with a smattering of 1/48 & 1/32 scale.
For collectors of the smaller scales I guess that is good news, but for the die hard 1/18th & 1/32 collectors, it's a vivid reminder of the reality of the "state" of our hobby.
Oh well, just my thoughts as I lament the passing of my favorite collectables.
