Why Not a 1/18th Harrier?

Post by wolf8564 » Sat Apr 17, 2010 10:33 am

Why have none of the 1/18th Manufactuers ever released a 1/18th Scale Harrier? You have a fairly small
aircraft in comparisons to the Tomcat.
A very popular aircraft with "The People" You have the American and British Markets. The Only VSTOL Aircraft ever put into production in the "Western World". Many Paint variations available. So where's the Problem? :?

I like the Harrier but if they ever make one they better make the A-10 first.
The mind is the limit. As long as the mind can envision the fact that you can do something, you can do it, as long as you really believe 100 percent.

Agreed, a Harrier would be cool, but the A-10 is much more appreciated.
We still need more new 1/18 aircraft!

I agree! I would ad the A4 to the list with lots of variations. Also several countries used them.

Do you guys remember the A-10 thread? There were a lot of discussions about which model(s) should be released next.

The Skyhawk is still in use in about 3 or 4 countries last I heard. The possibilities for repaints and variants of the A-4 are almost limitless. I think it would be a great choice. 8)

I've been advocating a Harrier since the beginning of the XD-main.

So you know where my heart lies.

Because the manufacturers suck.

And they hate us.

And they like to tease animals and steal lollipops from children.

And they smell. :?

I agree the Harrier would be a great choice. And I would definitely buy one.

However there are other jets that would probably sell better, and still need to be done.

F-4,F-5,A-4,F-15,Su27 Mig 29 etc.

Sorry, but the A-10 is far down my list of jets I would like to see done in 1/18.

To each his own.

An A-4 is little itty bitty too.

Seems a natural to do such subjects.

Are you O.K. Jeffrey?

I am feeling much better now. The TV and I have worked out our differences.

But anyway, I figure we really don't have much to lose at this point, and may as well try insults, like "I heard that BBi's momma gave him bowl haircuts as a kid and had to hang pork chops around his neck so the neighborhood dogs would play with him."
I think it's crazy enough to work.

Harrier vs.A-4

Post by wolf8564 » Sun Apr 18, 2010 10:53 am

Yes I must agree that there are more
Repaints for the A-4 What with Argentina and Malaysia, Israeli Air Force and the list goes on: I must still go with the Harrier and its VSTOL Novelty. It is a One of a kind. Even The Yak-38 was a failure in comparision to the Harrier.

Jet, JET? You guys got your jet, albeit with spots.

I wanna new plane from WWII, but If I did want a jet it would be an F4 Phantom.

Ok I'll go away from this thread now.

THIS. Harrier is cool, would like to see a RN Sea Harrier. The A-4 is awesome, not to mention, SMALL. The amount of repaint possibilities for it are incredible. Just picking Top Gun schemes alone will net 3-4 repaints at least. Would love to see an IAF A-4, and high viz Vietnam Era A-4's too.
Shin's wishlist for 1/18 and 1/32 with retractable landing gear and more:

F-14 Tomcat, F-8 Crusader, A-4 Skyhawk, F-105 Thunderchief, A-6 Intruder, F-15C, F-15E Strike Eagle

Dudes, I'm not an aviation guy, but I would buy a 1/18 Harrier. It and the A10 are two planes that I can dig.
I looked at the trap, Ray.

dudes, i'm in for a harrier too.

I have a 1/18 skyhawk and it's a bigger plane than you might think. It would be one of the larger 1/18 scale planes made, albeit smaller than the F14, 16 and 18.

I sorta doubt it will happen, to be honest. It just doesn't have the zip appeal that manufacturers seem to be looking for in this scale. The harrier might have a chance but i think the A4 is a no go in 1/18.

edit: before everyone asks me where i got the 1/18 skyhawk, it's an r/c and i got it here: http://aerialhobby.com/index.php?main_p ... rd=skyhawk

There's even a Blue Angels version. Sorry, no aviation hump though.
i never met an airplane i didn't like...

I would rather see an A-10 finally get its due befoe a Harrier. The Harrier may have been used by more than one country, but I don't think that factor will help it sell near as well as an A-10 would.
Go Ugly Early in 1/18!!

Still waiting and wishing for a 1/18 A-10 Warthog.

To me the appeal of both of these planes is their relationship to the ground. The Harrier just seems to call out for a short field to take off from and the A-10 of course would be a great opponent for our armor. :)

Both are logical choices ... but lets not forget that PTE did release a A-10. I'm regretting not having bought it when I saw it retail a few years ago. While I'd like a higher end version, at least something is out there.
