Unfortunately there really isn't a "ladder" on the stock F14 - only the ladder door. And, it doesn't even open all the way like it should - see mine below:

If you goto the Custom/Mods threads you can see some great photos of DEVGRU's ladder he added below:

See the custom thread here about half way down:

You have to have quite a bit of talent to pull that off though.

Thank you pcoughran, I wounder what kind of mod you would have to do to get the door to fully open?

Well the geniuses at JSI's factory glued mine completely shut. No amount of xacto scoring and scribing could get it open. Plus, I'm not sure why they would only model half the ladder in the first place :?:

If you go to the link I posted in the prior reply, the first picture DEVGRU posts I believe shows that he had to cut the panel directly below the ladder door. There is a small panel there that is just molded so you can see the panel lines for it. You would have to cut that then somehow customize it to be able to "hinge" back onto the main body so it could open and close to allow the ladder door to open fully. Not sure how he did it - maybe glued a piece of tiny rod styrene onto the small cut panel door inside and then put a couple hollow rod receptacles on the inside of the body to "receive" the glued rod on the inside of the small panel?
The way it comes stock the ladder door sticks almost 90 degrees straight out from the side of the plane so that makes no sense at all.

Patrick,

Here you go! I took at least 20 pics of the boarding ladder and was able to operate it, so I have a good understanding of how it should be constructed in 18th scale.
