Just a quick heads-up on something I had never come across before:

http://www.aikensairplanes.com/TMC%20MO ... c-aspr.htm

They also have some near-1:18 items:
1:20 Sparrowhawk http://www.aikensairplanes.com/TMC%20MO ... sf9cte.htm

1:20 P-12 http://www.aikensairplanes.com/TMC%20MO ... ap12te.htm

Those are mahogany models, which in the case of WWI planes I think works well as a medium :)

They also have some others using silk canvas over wood, some of which are bit above or below 1:18:

All are a bit pricey, but I thought any WWI buffs out there might want to know. And I think for what you get (hand -crafted and -painted wood models), the prices do seem fair.

they're wooden desktop models. I got a few off ebay a few years ago. Pretty nice......no cockpit detail and the cockpit is just a shallow hole, not very deep. But overall i'm quite happy with them. Most that say they're 1/20 are closer to 1/19....check the model dimensions with the real dimensions of the plane as some scales are way off though.

You can definitely find them cheaper. I got them for about $60 apiece...but that was quite cheap. Normally you can find them for a bit over $100.
