The F4 is the same I´ve got. Would like to built and paint it up as a German Phantom from JABOG 71 Wittmund (Hartmann Geschwader after WW2) like this one:

G'day Guy's. Well i went and bought another one for the collection (you're a bad influence B29 LOL) , a Hawker Sea Fury ,these are very hard to find as the only version still readily available is the Reno version . This one i manage to pickup on evilbay unopened .

Nice! Congrats on a fantastic flying model! I have that same Sea Fury and it is one of my favorites. I modified mine with a scale diameter prop and retractable tailwheel. Be sure to give the gear mounts a good shakedown before flying. They were very poorly glued from the factory, and came off on the landing for me. Here are a few photos of it in flight:

Very Nice Mate and Great Pic's. Tell me is the retractable tail wheel from Hobby king ? as i have never seen it before. Could you please post a link for it. As you may be aware this Sea Fury isn't available anymore and took me some time to find this one.

Here is the tail retract that I used: http://www.rc-castle.com/index.php?rout ... ct_id=1858. Only thing that I did was cut off the tail wheel slight above the steering arms and glue it on facing the other way. That way it retracts forwards like the real airplane.

Thanks B29....I just ordered it . It will add a more realistic look to it.

Also the one i got has a five blade prop with it.

No problem Studly! As for the 5 blade, double check the color of the prop hub assembly. The earlier hubs (black) were fairly strong, but the later white hub versions have some serious strength issues. I would be wary of using if it is the white one for sure. My stock motor was dead from the factory, so I refitted mine with an FMS 550kv motor, 100A ESC, and a metal hubbed 5-blade 15" varioprop.

Geezzz Mate you had a bit of bad luck with dead parts on the Old Girl,where did you get your 5 blade prop from ?. I am a bit sentimental with this bird as my Old Man use to fly them in the RAN.

Unfortunately, that luck is pretty par for the course with this model. It looks great, and flies fantastic, but the reason it was discontinued was because of terrible quality control from the factory. Here is all the info on the prop, modifications, and power system. Let me know if you have any other questions and I'd be happy to help! One other thing I will mention is durability. I have had one of my gears collapse and the plane slid in on the prop. No damage at all to the prop, shaft, motor, or mount. I've had a good number of noseovers on landings or attempted takeoffs and it had the same result with no damage. These things are fantastically well built and designed! The stock 5 blade on the other hand, broke during my taxi test..

I found a website has a radio control F-105 Thunderchief and an F-8 Crusader. Calculating the wingspans, they are just a little shy of 1:18. Close enough, I think. Carve out a little styrofoam from inside the cockpit, and make a figure fit in. The jet nozzles look a little wonky, though. No landing gear, but I bet someone here could figure out how to make some. Or, I think they'd really work hanging from the ceiling. Just under a hundred bux each.

Felt bad about the P-40 being destroyed on take-off. Spectacular crash! A Corsair lands and a gear folds but somehow miraculously pops back out again!

I saw this F-8 Crusader recently at a display by a local RC aircraft club at a fly-in hosted by the local EAA chapter. The F-8 is nice and close to 1/18, but the detail is pretty basic and I’m not a fan of the texture of the foam construction.



The same RC club display also has some massive RC models including a 1/6 scale F-16 that uses a real jet engine and has retractable gear (as well as a whopping price tag of $15K )







There was also a 1/6-ish scale F6F Hellcat and other large scale RC planes, like an Me-262, Albatros D.III, and a 1/6 scale Hawker Hunter... Cool stuff

While living in Orlando, I worked for a photo lab as a courier picking up and dropping off film. One of our clients was a guy in Winter Springs who had a shop and showroom of RC jets similar in quality to that F-16.

I know some of you use RC to fill the ranks. I personally am not interested in flying them but I took a chance from Banana Hobby and picked up the B2 Stealth Bomber for a reasonable price. While under scale I think it fits in pretty well. The surfaces are fairly smooth and you can't tell it is made out of foam.

Thought i'd dust this thread off. Here's something for those with lots of space and deepish pockets, a very nice looking B-24 Liberator. Works out to be 1/16.7 scale, so a bit oversized but looks very well proportioned and nicely detailed. 6 1/2 foot wingspan and 4 feet long, so lots of room needed.

Nice planes but they do take up a lot of my ceiling airspace. They are close enough to 1/18 for my needs. Great for action shots. Only the B-17 is wired up currently.

Not 1/18, it's 1/24. But it is about the size of the B-21 Raider in 1/18 scale, though the Raider looks a bit different than the B-2

I’ve been flying the B-2 for the last few months, and it’s a really nice model. Did a few scale mods such as relocation of the nose wheel, and it flies fantastic. As if that wasn’t large enough, I also acquired the huge HSD Boeing 747. It’s the same scale as the B-2 (~1/24), but it’s huge. 10 ft long with a 9 ft span. Planning to convert it to a Shuttle Carrier. Finally, I’m working on a balsa build of a 10 ft (1/20 scale) Martin Mars flying boat. It’s definitely been a year of huge projects.

wow, spectacular. The 747 dwarfs the 7 foot span B-2. Awesome. Where do you store all those huge models?
