well that model is about 32 inches long, which makes it 1/24 scale. Maybe you used the model's wingspan to calculate the scale for its length.

anyone who had interest in that 1/18 Boeing 737 i mentioned a year ago, it's now available as a glider, which means it has no r/c gear but is otherwise the same airframe and is really all you need for a display model. Savings of $70, which is cool.

you can order decals on the same site for various airlines.

here's a video of it to give an idea of the size

i think that's exactly the same price you get if you order form the international warehouse. It's within pennies anyways. I've been waiting and hoping that Freewing would offer a kit version of this (ie without r/c gear in it) but it doesn't look like it's going to happen. Too bad, it would have saved close to $100 off the price.

I'm going to get one next month and the other in the fall. Must have beautiful B-17's.

Hawker Hurricane. Looks pretty good in this one picture. Kinda expensive but i just heard about it, so may be able to find it cheaper in time. 1/17.5 scale.

I think i missed posting this one. Hawker Tempest. 1/16.6 scale. Looks pretty nice except for a bit of an overly large vertical tail.

the fw-190a i mentioned a few months ago is available. It works out to 1/19 scale, so it will look a bit small compared to the XD 190D (wings will look smaller, the A was much shorter than the D anyway).

Has undercarriage that can be postioned retracted or extended, 3 blade prop, fully painted will all decals applied.

I guess this bears mentioning. The Avro Lancaster i mentioned last year has been released. It turned out to be smaller than i expected. It's 1/24 scale. About 3 feet long and just over a 4 foot wingspan. Looks very nice though, except for the colour of the brown paint which is too dark. Despite that, the first batch sold out in less than 18 hours.

I am sorely tempted, despite its smallish size.

Alfa makes one. It's not bad. The front air intake is too big but comes with a very nice set of decals. Getting hard to find now. You'll have to search around online to see if you can find it.

Hey guys. New to the idea of pickin' up a foam 1:18 plane but grabbed two Airfield F-4 Phantoms. Tried goin' through this particular thread to find out if there was one particular Phantom that might be popular here. I'm (sorta) happy with what I have but am anxious to hear other's suggestions/recommendations.

the closest to 1/18 scale is this one:

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/stor ... duct=10867

It's made by Edo-model. When it's back in stock, if you sign up for an account and log in, you'll be able to buy it for around $85 plus shipping. It's nice except the nose looks a bit wierd. Cutting about an inch off of it and then gluing on the nose cone makes it look alot better.

Then there are these:

http://www.nitroplanes.com/93a04-airfie ... o-kit.html

http://www.nitroplanes.com/93a04-airfie ... y-kit.html

they are quite nice, but more like 1/16 scale. Sometimes you can find them on sale in the $60 range.

Hope that helps

Hello Aferguson and thanks for the reply. The first plane from Nitroplanes is actually the one I got (the Camo F-4). Here's something interesting - I actually bought it in parts (nose/tail/wings/fuselage) instead of just the single plane for $99 and ended up with 2 of them for just a little over $130. Bought a few extra nose cones and will see if I can make a sorta-ef-four with some PVC and piping but I'm pretty happy with what I've got.

Anything about the Windrider Hurricane? is it close 1/18th scale? It sure would look nice next to the Motorworks Spitfire :D

the windrider hurricane is huge. Around a 4 foot span. It does look nice, i agree.

There is supposed to be a Hurricane coming out at the end of this month by a company called Nicesky. It's 1/17.5 scale and looks pretty nice. They are available for pre-order on several German sites, but nowhere else, for some odd reason.

Here is the cheapest i've found:
