Coat them in fiberglass, makes them extremely smooth and gives it a more realistic appearance rather then the original foam.

You could also try to remove as much paint as possible and use this product.

I am not sure if it would work over the existing paint but you could ask them. I haven't tried it yet, but I intend to when I have more free time.

My Dynam C-47 arrived today. Very nice. It's a bit underscale (about 1/20) but looks big and good. Comes pre painted with some of the DDay markings painted and the rest decals to be applied. The only drawback of it is that the foam is quite thick so you won't be able to cut open the doorway or have paras inside of it. Otherwise it's a winner.

Dynam did a DC 3 first and now this c-47. Rumour has it they are going to do an AC-47 next.

Grayson Hobby has them on sale for $120 with reasonable shipping.

The Skyraider is available now. The only place i know of to get it is in Australia, however the price is good and the shipping is apparently pretty cheap ($25) although it takes a few weeks.

It's a bit smaller than hoped, comes in at 1/20. Probably the closest we'll ever get...

I'm steady working on the B-25 when I have time. Just about have the fuselage finished. Tried putting in some 21st century pilots in the gunners nose and cockpit and they look perfect in there. Can't wait to finish it up. Not going to put the landing gear in because I'm going to hang it. Taking a long time but glad I got it. Will take pics soon. :D

I was going to get the sky raider but without all the armaments, it looks naked :-(

Still waiting for a B-17 ( body only version)

well i was going to use some left over ordnance for my skyraider if i get it. Being that it's 1/20 i'm not sure if i'm going to. It's about the same size as the XD stuka. Some bombs from an F-18, rocket tubes from my P-47 (not quite the same type used in vietnam but similar looking), and FFAR from my P-38. Not totally correct but would look reasonable.

As far as the B-17 goes. You have a choice. The Hobby King one or the Freewing one. The Freewing is a bit larger and a bit nicer looking but costs more. The Freewing also offers a choice of olive drab or silver schemes. It's 46 inches long, whereas the Hobby King one is 43 inches long. Both are the same span.

The Hobby King one is now available in airframe only for $182. Wait til it hits the US warehouse and it will save you a lot on shipping, though the price will be $20 or so higher.

The Freewing hasn't come out yet in airframe only yet and when it does will probably be around $250. It's the nicer of the two though.

Silver one is not readily available yet.

There is a Lancaster coming out any day now and a Short Sunderland rumoured to be in the works.

OK, making some progress on the B-25. I havent glued the canopys or nose yet but this will give you an idea of finished product. Using 1:18 BBi and 21st figs for the inside.

looking great. Did you not use the supplied canopy frames but instead painted the framing onto the clear parts?

No, I used the frames, a lot of cutting and fitting, and then glue the clear plastic into the frame to make it look like one piece. One thing I learned though was you can't use model glue on that thin of plastic,it eats right through it!

Thanks, it took a loooooooooong time. I'm making it a point not to rush this thing. I want to try and get it as good as I can with what little experience I have. Someday I hope to get as good as our other members with their customs and paint jobs! :-)

The B-25 is excellent, I like the scale of it against the P-51, also I must compliment you on your work shop, a really nice neat area to work in 8)

Amazing! Have we figured out if it is still possible to get this same plane? I want one bad.

Thanks guys, definitely a labor of love for the B -25. A big thanks to Aferg for getting me started with some of these styros.
There are a few , like this company, that have really figured out how to make the foam look like a solid material.
Thanks Ram04 , took 45 years to get here but finally have a little place to go out and work on a hobby and forget the world for awhile
YT, this is where I ordered it nearly two Years ago. I think they are still in business. I'm going to try and order the Me-110 and will let you know.

yes it's been discussed on here before. It's quite nice. About 1/17, like the b-25. Well worth getting if you're an A-10 fan.
