when i research a project i want to do, especially a more involved project, i accumulate pictures and vidoe of the subject and also calculate dimensions, in 1/18 scale etc. I usually stick all the info in a seperate file on my computer for convenience. Often i never get around to doing these projects, through loss of interest, or lack of resources/skills etc.

Over the years i have accumulated quite of collection of seperate little computer files, each of which contains pictures, video and dimensions of a seperate 1/18 scale subject. Mostly aircraft.

I was looking over some of them last night and it was quite fun to watch the video and with the help of the dimensions i'd calculated, image the various planes in 1/18 scale. It's almost become like a secondary collection, in a way. A collection of.....mind models...ha.

Anyone else built up something like this over time, without even realizing it?

Yeah, I buy books on about every project I get involved in. Then there are the temporary pictures and files I store on my desktop that I don't keep. Most are just close-up pictures of detailed areas I might be having difficult with, then discard when that is accomplished or the project is finished.

Gathering information is a great learning process. Imagine how boring it would be to build everything right out of a box and not know a thing afterwards.

I've compiled many files over the years....some projects completed others still on the to do list. The funny thing is they(the files) are on paper. I use the computer, books, photos and smaller scale models for reference. But everything ends up in a real file. I guess I'm old school.

Yes I have sets and sets of scale drawings.

I love looking at them and wishing for a magic wand. :D
