I once got an F-18 from a fellow boardmember for $40

Our prices around here are still reasonable given the times 8)

How about store clearances in the old days-----

I found 1/18 Command Cars in TRU for $2.50. There were 7 on the shelves, I bought six and being such a nice guy, I left one for somebody else.

Also in TRU 1/6 Command Cars for $49 and Scout Cars for $59. Both can get over $400 each now.

But then, my first 1/1 MV cost me $4,000 for a WC-56 Command Car that was straight out of French service, completely rebuilt and in perfect condition......... and my first M-37 cost me $750, running and practically new condition....... and if you want to go way back.... my first car was a 65 Pontiac Le Mans, brand new, for $3,200 and my second car was a 68 Pontiac GTO which cost me $3,600, brand new, special ordered exactly equipped the way I wanted it. I still have both window stickers.

The good old days.....

I just wish I'd bought more of the $50 RC 1/6 Stuarts and $75 1/9 Abrams at WM. Some guys found them even cheaper than that.

I wish I'd started way earlier collecting 1/18 aircraft - when F-16s went for $ 60 and the Super Cobra were still available... man, that would have been great.
We still need more new 1/18 aircraft!

Quite amazing how some things go up in value with time. If only we knew back then what we know now.

Yep, I got most of my 21st Century 1/18 planes on clearance at WM, I believe the cheapest one was $5 (Old Crow) and the most expensive ones were $15 (Winter Stuka + CIA Huey) the 190s, Tiger tank, P 47, and Chinese Mig were all $10 each. And the other 1/18 21st stuff I got from Monkey Depot, when they were clearing out all 21st line. I also picked up a 1/6 Sahara jeep for $25

Following the consistent pattern in my life of never doing anything the easy way; I got into the hobby too late to buy much of anything at a bargain. I was able to get some stuff at the tail end of the MD sale on the cheap, but for every deal I have gotten I balanced it by over paying for something else.

Never got a single deal or mark down here in Washington State. Maybe just unlucky.

Only got into 1/18 about three years ago,and have never bought any from WalMart.

Still was able to get some decent deals off Ebay.

With those clearance prices, surprised 21C didn't fold years earlier.

I remember when ToysRUs.com, as I recall, had a glitch and were selling F-18s for $29. I bought two of them, should have bought even more! They fixed the problem a few days later, but not before a ton of people had ordered them.

The best was the 21st figures at walmart for $1 then they went down to $.50
