I picked up a few older airplanes tonight from a fellow near my home. Got them home and was looking at the P-47 peg and noticed something odd. See if you see what didn't get done at the factory.
OK how about a closer look
I then looked at a P-47 on my wall and the inside of the canopy frame work is blue. QC let this one out of the factory without painting the canopy frame work.
Here is a shot of the group I was able to get tonight from a local collector who is letting go of some of his stash. I think that he will start listing some items on Ebay. I will let everyone know when he does.

This is an open one I have. I did not get it new, but he paint on the canopy is done well - meaning not brush applied. But without it coming fresh from a box, I don't have any other reference. Not having them painted at the factory is very strange for the rear view mirror is almost clear with just a blue tint. Not real authentic.
Maybe that is correct for the one I looked at was my other Peg pictured here. the Huckle de Buck is silver inside. Guess I just assumed since it seemed odd for such a nice looking plane.

My Peg still in box has the blue on the canopy so this is the original color and the loose one pictured was custom done.

Having see these in person once upon a time, the other members are correct - the "Peg o My Heart planes had blue canopy framing in their stock configuration. The one with the OD framing - while good looking - is custom.

I know but I helped him out, he gave it to me.

I have never seen the Peg in a Ultimate Soldier box. Anybody have one in a regular box.

I just got one of these today from ebay. It is in a red motorworks box with a blue canopy. The worst problem is bent machine guns because of low clearance with the top of the box. A common problem with this aircraft.

My Peg (bought from a WalMart) has a blue canopy.

Thanks guys. I guess one is never too old to learn new things. I never really paid attention to the Peg until last fall when I got the loose one with the OD canopy frame and just assumed it was a genuine. I never got to see one in the stores either. I sure like the look of the OD frame better, but I am not going to mess with the one in the box.

Nice score. The P47 is one that got away from me. Too bad I was poor at the time and even WalMart prices were a bit much.

Now that it is as obvious as the nose on my face, I see it everywhere, too. I am still surprised because it looks so unfinished with the clear mirror and blue color.
