How about a 1/18th F-8 Crusader?

Post by flyXwire » Tue Feb 02, 2010 7:48 pm

This would be a good choice for JSI to do in 1:18th scale - what do you guys think?

I do not think it has enough of a fan base for them to consider producing it. It is not like a F15 or F4.

Absolutely yes! I'd even take an F-8 over an F-15 in 1:18 scale....

As much as I love the F-8, it just wouldn't sell close to the number like the bland ole lookin' F-15 would. Even given it's tremendous amount of history as a "Mig Master".

I'm working on a 1/48 Hasegawa F-8E as we speak. Well, the Aires cockpit at least ;)

I don't collect Modern, but if I did I would want one because it was a very important plane, especially in its role during Vietnam. I had a plastic model of one long ago and would definitely have another if I move out of WWII. Just as I would an A-4. Can't just have an F-4 and say, "Hey, look at my Vietnam collection, dude."

But it would need to be in 1/32.

A decent enough plane, but so many other modern jets to do in 1/18 first.

We only have the F-14,F-16,F-18,F-104,Mig 15,and F-86 for now.

I am waiting for JSI to put out the F-15,and Su27 first.

After these two,I would want an F-4 Phantom.

The Century Wings F-8 Crusader in 1/72 was a good model, but did very poorly, sales wise.
Not enough interest from collectors,it would appear.

If I could afford one I would definitely get it. I love the Crusader.

I'll go on record as wanting one, but I'll buy any aircraft in 1/18 (as long as an A-10 comes first).

A great aircraft, the last of the gunfighters, but not mainstream enough for the market Im afraid. Its like wanting an A-7 Corsair II or even the talk of doing the Super Sabre. Great planes, but more on the fringe of mass appeal. Pretty much the same concept of why we have the planes in the collection now. Why we have Zeros instead of Hayabusas, Corsairs instead of Buffaloes. They are all well known, famous and recognized.

If they are not, they wont sell well, and companies wont do them.

Yes, it would be cool and I would want one.

However, I see the production of one in 1:18th as highly unlikely at this point and there are many other large jets I would rather have over the F-8.

Love the plane but I think and a4 or a6 would do better in sales.
I still can't understand why an a4 has not been made. It's small and the repaint opportunities are great. Even the Blue Angles scheme would be a nice selling point.

I would definitely get one, but honestly: Wouldn't it be great if they - BBI, JSI, All-Go or even Admiral - produced more modern US Air Force birds?

We already have NAVY/MARINE F/A-18s and F-14s, but only one modern representative of the US Air Force (F-16).

A-10s and F-4s aside, what about F-117s, F-22s, F-15s (I mean the USAF version, not IAF).

Don't get me wrong - I love the Navy - but it's getting monotonous.

Just my opinion.

Hell yeah! Bring on the MIG MASTER! It's relevance is often overlooked.
Shin's wishlist for 1/18 and 1/32 with retractable landing gear and more:

F-14 Tomcat, F-8 Crusader, A-4 Skyhawk, F-105 Thunderchief, A-6 Intruder, F-15C, F-15E Strike Eagle

Now thats a great idea ! The F8 was the fighter that made the grade in Vietnam shootdowns yet recieved little credit. I'd order one in a second but if it's JSI I'll have to see it and touch it in person before I hand order any money.

I'd buy a SLUF and Eagle. I want the C and Strike Eagles. ESPECIALLY want the "Golden Eagles"(C w/AESA radar, AIM-9X, and HMS).
