Got a 1/16 FoV Tiger 1

I got sick of the King Tigers going for $700, especially considering the eye-sore paint jobs and inaccurately overdone weathering. I literally paid less than half as much for this guy

This is the 2nd release of the Tiger 1, whittman's final tank. It's my favorite camo scheme on the Tiger. it really blew me away how much of an improvement it is over the 21st Tiger 1. THe hull is plastic, but the tracks and entire turret including the gun is metal. the engine is metal too! tracks roll really smooth and easy, and it has working suspension. Every hatch opens, even the storage bins and radiator hatches. All the cables are actual woven metal cables too. All the fenders are removable. This thing is HEAVY

THis one doesn't open up like the King Tiger, so I took it apart to show the interior detail and modify it to have a removable turret. A lot of stuff is hidden, even on the roof of the hull where you'd never see the stuff. Very happy and impressed by the whole thing

I am amazed, all that detail and it is viewable only if you dissemble the tank?

What good is that? That tells me the market for this tank are fanatics about detail?

Sorry, but I'm excited with my Mato KT for $150 shipped. That's fine with me.

No offense meant........

Way to go bananapirate. :D

That is a good price for this tank, and less than what they sold for when they were first released.

I think when they first came out they sold for $350. I think they are holding thier value.

The KT's are going through the roof.

I got mine a few years ago. But I did not get the Witman

The tigers look mean with the fenders off. I wonder why the King Tiger shot up in value but niether of the Tiger 1's did :?

I actually like the paint on the 1st release KT a lot more than the ugly yellow Peiper model

My guess is the second batch of the Tiger I #007-Wittman that was found last year helped keep prices down. I've seen second batch Tigers being sold by numerous dealers so it must have been a relatively large number in the second batch. I bought mine last year for $375 plus shipping. I'm surprised that there are still a lot of them available.
The Tiger #007 is my favorite model to look at---the sharp detailing and weathering are really impressive. I wish I had the FOV King Tiger-Peiper #008 to go with my Wittman Tiger and Sherman.

I had both King Tigers & think the Peiper one is the better , I think your find it the same on ebay with the Peiper being the one that goes for top $

That's true, but the #222 Villers Bocage Tiger 1 goes for the same prices as the 007 :?

How do you like your sherman?

ironically the Peiper model is the one that pops up on ebay the most

BANANAPIRATE:

I haven't kept up with prices on the Tiger I #222, but I had always monitored the price on #007 because I was looking for one. Before the second batch was announced, the #007 was selling on ebay for big bucks for the ones I saw. Then the second batch showed up and the prices plummeted below $400.
In a perfect world, with all the batches of discontined 21st Century and BBI models currently being found in Chinese warehouses, I'd like to see a batch of the King Tiger #008 being found---and the price drops down to $375.
A few weeks ago, the price for the 21st Century Bunker Hill Avenger was around $180 on ebay, but after the second batch was found, I got one from Badcat for $80 delivered.
Back to the Tiger I #007, considering the price, FOV should have included two different Wittman figures---one that fits into the hatch and the other for the "photo session".
As for the Sherman, I like it a lot, but I have two complaints---the wood crates are not weathered and look very toylike. Even 21st Century's cheap Sherman has crates that are weathered. Also, I think the flesh paint on the figures is too bright. Other than that, the Sherman is great---particularly the mud weathering.

its actually really simple. Just take out the 8 screws on the bottom and the upper hull should lift right off if you wiggle it a bit. the turret has like a double base, just unscrew it and take it off

No comparison is right, the 21st Tiger looks like a cheap toy to me now. this tank is also a lot bigger than the 21st, i think theirs is a bit underscale

I managed to get the turret apart, and I'm blown away even more. All of this normally unseen detail! I love how the various periscopes are all there. As you open this thing up you really start to see where the money went into it. You'll notice that it has no coaxial MG, as was correct for a command Tiger (the MG was replaced by radio equipment)
