And at a good price too! Badcat must've raided a chinese warehouse before they all burned up in a fire..

That's pretty much the retail price for that plane! They also have the Bunker Hill Avenger up for sale, which they say they found in the back of their warehouse. Must be a similar story for the ME-262.

If someone doesn't already have one, now would be the time. Assuming it doesn't have any issues with the land gears or other parts, it is a great plane :)

I had taken a closer look on this bird before I returned it due to various broken parts. It is really neat and detailed like no other 21C plane, but pretty hard to assemble. You have to screw on the wings, which can be pretty tricky.
We still need more new 1/18 aircraft!

I thought the same thing, til I experimented a bit.

If you just want to put the 262 together for a grounded photo opt, you do not have to put the screws in. :)

Concerning the Avenger, the text says it has a broken propeller and there's only one and it was $90. I placed an order at 1:27 AM Saturday. On Saturday morning, the price had dropped to $84.99. I called Badcat twice later on Saturday to confirm my order, but the customer service office was closed and the sales reps didn't have access to orders.
I asked if there is only one Avenger which I already ordered and why they dropped the price on a model already sold. The reps said there was only one Avenger in stock and couldn't answer my question about the price drop and to call customer service when they are open.

True, but these had been unavailable for a while now and prices on Ebay were around $100+shipping if not more...

Someone must've found a forgotten warehouse or something for these to just pop up? Or, maybe 21st is coming back...  :P

I got an email from Badcat---my Avenger is $80.49 (after the newyear discount). I called Badcat's sales and they say the Avenger is still in stock.
I don't know about the broken propeller situation since customer service is closed for the holiday.

Hi gang!

As a retailer, I can confirm that 'every retailer' currently selling the 21st Century Toys Me262, Avenger (BH) and the Hanomags Stuka Su Fuss & Pak 40 all got them from the same distributor who located old stock in China. Anyone claiming to 'find' these in their warehouse is simply trying to create hype and make it sound like an original find - which it isn't.

I wish I could say that 21st C is on the rebound but other than TKO's info here nothing official has been said.

For some reason I think 2010 will be a very good year for 1/18. :)

Cheers & Happy New Year to all!

I just bring this up for consideration but I think the admiral toys 262 is a better shape with a good dihedral in the wings , the 21C is alot flatter.. but it does have much better cockpit detail

Pulling a surprise this big, with the involvement of so many retailers and ebay sellers with nary a hint or a squeak is reminiscent of the very best OSS top secret black ops

Any other news/developments you retailers are holding back on us?

With the numbers showing up, it must have been a good find at the warehouse manned by the clueless.
A task force should be set up to trawl thru all the warehouses in China to locate more hidden stuff!

Hi gouchy!

I wish I had more news regarding finds for everyone. The truth is it wasn't really much. Aircraft finds in China were less than a total of 100 pieces (distributed amongst 6-12 retailers).

I did speak to our reps at BBI today and they hope to bring out 'something' from their 1:18 scale line this year. The design team in Hong Kong have been working on their European kids toys this entire past year and now can take a little time to concentrate on their 'forgotten' US markets - namely the BBI line of toys.

...so we got that going for us.

I hope that BBI will be willing to produce new 1/18 stuff. It's been a long time since their last release.

The only thing I can add is the Eastern Front repaint of their Me109 and the "we always wanted to but never did" repaints of the F-16 & F/A-18.

It's funny, we still get the same answer from them about these aircraft repaints.

FOXHOLE TOYS:

I'm speculating, but the F-16 repaints were already done in terms of what they would look like (Thunderbirds, Enduring Freedom), so does that mean an all-new model?.....or is BBI going to play it cheap and safe by falling back only on the previously-announced F-16/FA-18 repaints?

Hi Dragon53,

The Thunderbirds was previously announced but has never seen the light of day. Customizers have only done it. However, the F/A-18 Blue Angels made it.

What BBI keeps referring to is the "Aggressors" paint scheme. I'm just not sure how many collectors would really want a training-scheme aircraft. ??

What do you guys think?

That Eastern Front or any other front ME-109 is way overdue.
Did anyone mention the 1:32 F-4 Phantom, Wildcat and SBD in dire need of some repaints?...whoops this is the 1:18 section.
