Sorry...They were originally 79.99, but were marked down. They have no bbi except a few figures & weapon sets, and the planes. I bought and left one at the store during lunch, and when I went back the other 2 were gone, one w/o the pilot. I had borrowed money and was prepared to get 2. This is the Times Square TRU where if a company doesn't pay they don't get much space; I'm afraid I missed on the new bbi guys at 2 bucks a piece.
Cool! Thanks for the intel digger. Now we know that they are going for the same price as on-line...........
By the way, I brought a British Corsair home from the Times Square TRU! Pain in the arse carrying that thing on the subway!!

,,,
this is off topic of this thread, but its not worthy starting a whole new topic.
i was in TRU tonight, and i have not been there in a while, and i noticed two new weapon sets by bbi.
how long have these been out? the ones with the mortars and heavier weapons.
has anyone customized the mortar into a wwii era one and how hard was it?

again, sorry that this is off topic of this thread, but its just not worth a new topic.

Remember
This TRU is really unrelated to others. I wouldn't be surprised if other stores had no intention of carrying them. Also it didn't faze me when he said they wouldn't be getting anymore because I know that was independent of the company in general. Is the sku on the receipt? I could then post it...

Hey All,
I was in a TRU the other day, 75th Ave & Thomas, Phx, Az.
I spoke to an older employee, either one working on a 20 year retirement or a person who was retired and working a part-time job. Either way, I suspect that she paid more attention to things being said in the organization than the average TRU employee.
First of all, they were having a sale to make room for X-Mas restocking. That store would remain open through X-Mas and then is slated to close sometime after the first of the year. There would be a post season sale, primarily on items that are not worth shipping to other stores that will remain open. That particular store will be closing.
Second, not all TRU's are closing according to her, but rather consolidating to their more profitable markets. The really strange thing is that the store is profitable, but TRU has looked at the local demographics and determined that it will not continue to be so in the future. The cheaper toys are selling well, but they are moving very few high dollar items to include the $80+ Lego sets, $120+ R/C stuff and the more expensive (just released) video games. TRU feels that trend will continue until all that is being sold is what a typical consumer will purchase at Wal-Mart, Target, or K-Mart, for less.
As you can imagine, this was more than a 30 second conversation with your average store clerk. I thanked her, and proceeded to purchase a Hayloft set for $12.00. Last one they had.

Let us know what you find at TRU Santa Monica. (I actually live in Westwood, practically next door to UCLA). I was there just last weekend, and they didn't have much (a couple marked down BBi buggies in the clearance bins and some figs).
F18's in Newark, CA
Hi All,
I got tired of looking for more bubbletops and went in the ToyRUs in Newark, CA. They had 4 F18's (kitty hawk) at $80, 1 Lav marked down, apache's and blackhawks regular price.

hey cmelt27 -
Just went to the Santa Monica TRU this afternoon. There weren't any of the F-18s, which was disapointing. They had the BBI figures, new weapons sets, and a few AH-6s and Hummers at full price. There were the dune buggys in the clearance bins and an M1A1 marked down to $20! Though tempting, I decided not to go for the M1 as I need the space for a future 21st M113 and (hopefully) Panzer IV. There was a new Hasbro Star Wars Y-wing, with pilot (like the one that came out at Target a few years ago, but with red striping.) Might have to go back and grab one. Where at in Westwood are you? I live on Gayley.

Thanks Tman!
See my post in the M113 section-- I am right off Gayley on Veteran....
Amazon
Anyone notice a couple of XD items on Amazon? Seems people's speculation that Amazon breaking away from TRU inventory might mean XD again were right, sort of. I guess now they just got the extra stuff (read: AA hueys) and at high prices, but it's a good trend. Just because TRU is flushing itself doesn't mean Amazon should
