What color will you paint your PH 222?

I'm debating what color I should paint my 222. I've seen a few of different paint Schemes Dak Yellow, dark Grey, and Squiggly Brown Line Camo. If there was ever a Tri-Color paint scheme, I may go with that, but I have not found a refference.

I have to sit this one out for a while, but if I could get one I would paint it grey.

I'm going for some sort of camo, but would love to have additional 222's so that I would have one in Gray and DAK as well.

What are you guys doing for decals?

Good question. I've tried to make German crosses using paint masks, but they did not work out for me. If anyone is making custom decals for these I'd be up for buying a set or 2.

You might be able to trim down 1:16 balkenkreuzes.

Well I was supposed to send some 1/35 Tamiya decals to Jackson so he could make some larger ones in 1/18 scale. But I never did.

I have lost his address AGAIN and am waiting for a response so I can do just that.

They are simple decals for the licesnse plate crosses and some DAK trees.

Not sure on the price yet.

My kit is basicly a large Tamiya kit.

There was a guy that did 1/18 decals for Tigers and 251's. I have some that worked out great, can't recall who/where but maybe someone else can. They would probably work great on a 222.

I'll see if I can dig them up, I believe I had a DAK set with crosses, palm trees, unit markings, etc..

Just ordered my 3 kits :)
I think I will have all 3 painted up in the Normandy tri-color scheme.
That's the era I seem to like the best  Now I'll have to get 3 more flatcars ready and painted up to move those bad boys up to the front 8)

Figured it out, they were from John's Stuff. I can't seem to find them for sale anymore?

Perhaps Airplane decals might work for the non-DAK units ???
I know that Microscale makes them in different scales as does a couple other manufactures. This is for the German chevron(cross) - check any good R/C store and see if they carry them. My 2 cents on the decals ;)

Your's is almost ready to go. I have the M-10 ready and just need to gather the pieces for the 222 then get them out.

Fritz said he got his already.

He has since opened his up and said that looking at all of the piece he was some what intimedated. But once after laying them out it was not so bad.

Everything should fit with no problem. I made location tabs for everything so all the parts should fit.

I would say the only tricky part will be glueing the hulls together . With a little sanding and dry fitting the could be tackeled with ease.

The gun platform . There are nine pieces.

1. Mg 34
2. 20 mm canonon
3. Mag
4. Brass discharge chute
5. Scope
6. Gun platform plate
7. Gun platform base
8. Two pivot pins.

Image

I cliped little plastic rods as pivot pins. The are loose. Dress them up and glue only on the inside of the arm. Be careful you do not get glue on the outside. The gun will not raise or lower. At first I used tiny screws and nuts but was unhappy how they worked. To loose and the gun would not stay in place. When you tighted them the gun would not move at all. There was no in between. So I used the pin idea.

The pic does not show the production piece. There is a block in front of it that will glue the whole thing into/onto the turret ring.

All you guys who have orderd the 222 I will be happy to give out my phone to answer questions.

Just PM me. :D

Monkey Depot bought the old John's stuff decals and printing equipment. They only have everything in 1/6th so I'm trying to work out a deal with them to get them in 1/18th. There are several interesting sets, several of which would work well on the 222 for both DAK, Gray and Camo.

Pickel, My kit arrived yesterday afternoon!
All I can say is  wow, the quality and detail of the this kit is fantastic. I can truly see the time its taken you to produce it. If all goes well, I'll be starting on it this weekend. I hope you sell a ton of them.

I've completed 90% of my kit build. I just need to finish the mesh basket and glue-on , some of the external nick-knacks. When I get it primered I post some pics.

I got my kit today. Pickelhaube, if all your kits are this good I don't think you will have a problem moving them. The detail is really nice and the instructions for assembly are first rate.

I really need to just bit the bullet and get one of these

Should I get one, I'd probably paint mine in a gray scheme similar to the original 21c 32x SDK 222. It would be the easiest for me to accomplish and be a standard-looking early-war German vehicle.
