Mystery Quonset Hut

I picked up this cool little quonset hut on ebay the other week in a lot with a trashed bbi sherman. It's pretty nice with opening garage doors on both sides and opening doors on both ends, all the doors have latches and there's a weird carry handle and some little removable posts on the roof. No ID marks anywhere on it.

Any ideas where this is from or who made it? I'd love to find a few more to paint up.

It looks like something you'd find in the M*A*S*H play set, but it's not.

I have seen that thing on JC Penney's site last year. It came with a bunch of little soldiers. From the pic, I would never of dreamed that 1/18 guys or vehicles would fit in it. Cool, find Cent-one.

Whatever set it came from, it is Korean war vintage.

I lived in one for a year while in the Army in Korea. We had dozens to live in, just doors at either end but our motor pool had big quonset huts for storage and vehicle maintenance.

Good find.

These quonset huts are in New Ray 1/32 sets. Green for military, red and white for Fire Department, and yellow for Construction. Some of the toy soldier dealers, like Michigan Toy, may have these palysets available.

Sweet!

Awesome find! It is obviously too small for being a 1/18 Quonset, but as you showed, it works really nice as a little 1/18 shed/garage.

Thanks for sharing!

Thanks very much. Can't seem to find a price, though, on that or any of a handful of other websites.

Anyone...?

Funny, it does work as a great 1/18 shed, but doesn't look quite right next to the 1/32 figures - how would they possibly manage that high doorknob?

That seems reasonable.
