After the huge spot mess on the Tomcats, do you guy think JSI will go ahead with the F-15 model? I sure hope so we get a spot free Eagle one day.

i hope so, the f-14 even with the spots is just impressive, the spots give the plane some character if you ask me.

I think if the F-14 sells well in the long run then yes the F-15 will follow. Hopefully, JSI will use its lessons learned to make it even better then the F-14.

I think it is likely, but there is also evidence that it could be just as unlikely.

Despite the opinions about this plane on this board, I believe the overall reception of the F-14 in the wider collecting community has been quite positive. Merit has reported that the F-14 alotment has entirely sold out, which means retailers were ordering the plane and are likely selling it. Even my local Hobbytown store got in 8 planes (including mine) and has sold them all. None even left to put out on the shelf! The employee that orders the 1:18 goods was surprised and noted that he could have probably sold twice that many.

However, we are still in the early stages of this and there will likely be a number of collectors no on this board or in-the-know that will get pissed at the spots, etc, and will never buy a JSI plane again. Then there are probably more that won't care and will go for another large plane.

Then again, this whole project could very well have been a disaster and JSI could be reluctant to go through with it again on another plane. Spots or not, I do not think that the SU-27 and F-15 will have quite the fame, popularity and recognizability that the F-14 has and hence may not sell as well.

Yes, I think so, but I think it will take longer than we want.

I did too after shaking the plane, they fell out today.

I think we'll get it. The model they showed off in Hong Kong earlier this year had the working intake ramps already implemented, and I don't think anyone was expecting that. At one point, some of us thought it was further along than the Tomcat, so who knows.

I hope we see JSI do the F-15. That would mean JSI hasn't shyed awayh from producing 1/18 scale modern jets. Especially after the F-14 issure.

That can only mean increased hope of them turning out an A-10 down the road for me and others....

Not to mention a fully armed Strike Eagle, be it the awesome looking F-15I(I can't be the only one here that likes that thing), or US mud hen, would look AWESOME.

I also wouldn't mind the F-15SE even though it's not even in production yet. The Strike Eagle is a beast. I hope the CFT's are removable.

You definitely are not! This paint scheme is my favorite for the F15- any version. It looks so different from almost any other paint job on any modern plane. (Well, except other Israeli Air Force aircraft)

For what it's worth, my gut tells me that we will see another new mold 1:18 plane from JSI sometime. The F-15 would be great. But to be honest, I'd buy a Flanker even though that jet was never on my radar priority-wise in any scale even though I always thought it was cool looking. I also believe we will see a S-2 F-14 too, despite the S-1 paint debacle. Too much money invested in development on that mold, and the fact is it was a paint issue, not a mold issue. The paint issue can be corrected.

Totally agree with vulgarvulture on this.
JSI has a lot already invested in the F-14.and the major complaint is the painful attempt at weathering.
If they didn't even attempt the weathering,they would not have all these negative comments.
Other than the weathering,the rest of the paint looks good.

I would be surprised if they didn't do another squadron,or even a re release of Jolly Rogers.

I think that this controversy may cause JSI to rethink the F-15 and Su27.
But if they were serious about it in the first place,they will proceed.
And we will get a better quality model for it.

I'm passing on the F-14 so I can have room for the F-15E with full payload. Then again, I was also waiting on a certain confirmed Stryker and Dauntless.

If it comes, it comes, until then I'll be playing with my 1:16 tanks with a smile.

yes i think we'll see both of them plus a lot more. 1/18 jets are clearly popular; even with the grotesque spots people like the Tomcat, so i think they'll be plenty more. And i bet not one of them will have spots.

I was told that JSI will most likely produce the SU27 next and that may not happen till this time next year.

Not to mention, when it was said that JSI would only be making 1 run of the VF-84 Jolly Rogers scheme, it was open to interpretation. There's the low viz scheme towards the end of VF-84, with white trim and bluish gray paint. Then of course, there is the VF-103 Jolly Rogers F-14B's. The final cruise schemes alone could provide a handful of exclusives, be they exclusive to Bad Cat, different shows, or other etailers.

Do I think we will see Jolly Rogers again? Yes. Even if JSI makes a completely accurate old block F-14A, that's reason enough to do a new run of Jolly Rogers, maybe this time the early schemes with white horizontal stabilizers and white underside.

However I think the next route is most likely with the F-14B's from VF-103. From bluish gray/white trim to bluish gray with small roundels/chevrons but a return to yellow trim, there are SEVERAL VF-103 Jolly Rogers schemes to choose from.

Honestly I also don't think JSI would pass up an opportunity to do Vandy 1 either. It's always been a popular Tomcat.

I was told the same thing that avaiatornut was told. I also going to ask a friend at merit also if they are still going to distribute for JSI. I would think they wouldn't stop, since the F-14 sold out.
