any upcoming 1/16 tank releases announced from Heng Long or Mattorro etc? Whatever happened to the British tank that was supposed to be coming?

I didn't know Matorro had released their M16 gun carriage or their Panther until I saw it in a post here a few weeks ago. If I didn't have so many dadgum 21st Panthers, I would jump on that new 1/16 Panther. 1/16 armor is about all there is right now if you have a jones for large scale armor. I recently picked up a 1/16 Stug off ebay for $103 shipped and a 1/16 Jagdpanther for $93 shipped. Thats at about the top of my budget right now for a single piece. Still into 1/18, but one area where 1/16 has it over 1/18 is the unbelievable amount of aftermarket accesories you can get. There are certainly some other pieces I would like to have in 1/16, but they are just a little more than I want to put into my hobby right now.

I do hope that if someone makes a British tank it's HL. BUT, I bet that another German tank would be next before that happens.

Like an Elephant.

agreed. 1/18 armour is pretty much a dead duck for the forseeable future. FOV hasn't released anything new in 2 years except a lousy LAV and no one else but pte and chap mei are making anything even remotely usable, so i'm branching into 1/16 armour. Not really into the r/c aspect of it but they are nice usable display models and there is a great deal of potential going forward for more german, russian and even US armour and hopefully some british as well (matilda, churchill, cromwell etc).

I loooove my 1/16 T34, blows away even the 21st 1/18 tanks

Probably going to switch over fully, especially since FoV has the extreme metal tanks with detail far surpassing anything 1/18

I do believe an Elephant is on the way since Asiatam is selling sprockets and tracks on their site. This is very much the same way we found out about the KV-1. Obviously Heng Long is going to release a KV-2 next year and are releasing the Panther G this month, but no good rumors beyond that. They sure are good about keeping tight lipped and announcing something only a few weeks before you can buy it. Too bad 21C and Admiral didn't follow this practice.

I'll post some pics of my current wip project. I have just over $500 into her, but her fat behind (14lbs) is worth every penny.

Once I realised how much I enjoyed building, repairing, customizing and driving these things, I sold off all of my 1:18 armor. I would rather have more money into fewer models that I can actually play with, not just look at. Can't wait to find a club relatively close for a day of battling.

1:16 = crack!

Can't do this with a static model. :D

Glad the bug has bitten you. Collecting is still fun but not the only game being played.

Great looking KV-1, and the custom touches you are adding are making it all the better. I've heard some rumors that an IS-2 conversion kit for the HL KV-1 will be available sometime next year. If it does come out, trust me, I will be all over it.

hm...sounds expensive. What are the chances of HL making a JS-2 of their own?

Anything is possible I suppose, but another german or american tank from HL is far more likely IMO than anything Russian. It looks like the new HL Panther G is now available at MATO,

This is a HUGE improvement over the previous abortion known as the "Pantiger" and it is very encouraging to see HL taking this important step to bring the Panther up to date.

Matorro has a Jagtiger to be released soon. Theres the M16 halftrack by WSN and Asiatam is making a Sdkfz9 Famo to be released 2010 sometime.
Asiatam also has metal wheels and tracks on their site for an Elefant and sdkfz 251 so it's possible they might be making those as well.
