also lub up any parts that you need to join like the head to the body also the landing gear spring..

this make it easy for the spring to retract.

just love the landing gear and the rubber tire...

the qaulty of detail is like better the most of what i own..

example bbi p51 was full of detail like f14 and cost 1/4 the cost but i only bought one,,, as tko and other who will soon get their it is a very nice plane.. i am soooooooooooooooooooo.. happy to get it and be able to afford two...

u wouldn't understand until u see one in person..this is my flagship of my collection it is that good.....

i use the cooking oil method on all my planes... it also help with dis a symbling it..

very great product....wish i could buy two special edition but he sold out...

Junk? Hardly. The Tomcat is by far not the first 1/18 plane that can be tough to assemble...

There are a few of us here that think the spots are bad and can't live with them being on the plane. I am one of those guys. I tried to optimistic and I reserved much of my own judgement till getting one myself but when I did, I can tell you I didn't care for the look.

That said the F-14 is far from being junk. It's really a nice model and in some respects raises the bar again. It's a little more involved with putting together but it's not difficult.

Got mine this past week and it's one of the best 1/18's out there except for the spots. Kinda like a beautiful woman who dresses all frumpy but you can tell that she's still hot underneath the frumpiness!

How do you lower the front landing gear?
I am afraid that I will break it if I apply more force.

Be VERY CAREFUL taking the canopy section out of the packaging. My antenna mount is broken, don't know if it was like that from shipping or when I removed it from packaging. It is in there so tight you have to use some force to get it out. Try taking the nose cone out first then pull the canopy toward the rear to try and take pressure or keep from hitting the antenna on the packaging. Don't know why they didn't put something like a plastic bubble piece over the antenna to keep it safe it is very fragile.
I'm trying to glue mine but don't have much faith as it is a very tiny piece that hold the antenna on and it is suppossed to be a moving part that it's attached to and will probably be bumped by the nose cone if ever opened.

Very sad with the way this turned out.

Please post pro and cons about the Tomcat into the appropriate threads... as for assembly instructions, please post that in the general F-14 thread.
