The P-51 Mustang is a very popular warbird and one that I think we will always see in 1/18 scale, one way or another. Since I think it's inevitable that it will return(as in new P-51's), I was curious as to what you guys would want to see.

I want to see RAF P-51B's with malcolm hoods, and I hope JSI has the tooling for the P-51 that had the removable gun bay covers. I've always wanted to see BBI take on the P-51B because their overall quality for their P-51D was the best. Rugged, detailed, sturdy, only lacking in accuracy compared to 21st's mold.

To this day the P-51 from BBI is one of my favorites.

I also want to see Shang Ri La, and Robin Olds' SCAT Mustangs.

Frenesi, hands down. Man O War is cool as well.

While it would kill any value the original 21c plane has, I would like to see the "Lou IV" scheme on one of the retooled moulds, whether it was the BBI or 21c variant. A plane with markings like the 21c 32x "Double Nuthin" aircraft would be neat as well.

However, I would almost rather see JSI or BBI go the "original" route and make a P-51B/C. There would be plenty of repaint possibilities and it would give us something new. I love the P-51D, but between the several repaints offered by 21c and BBI, it has been beaten to death.

On a related note, I would be curious as to whether JSI has the 21c retooled P-51 moulds or not. It has not surfaced with any of JSI's recent showings. That was one of the planes 21c was putting out right up to the end and one that had a ton of paint schemes, so I wonder what ever happened to the tooling...

I could do with a couple more P-51D's if they were interesting like Double Nuthin' and Lou IV as mentioned. Even though I have the first one.
The value of Lou IV has plummeted anyways.

I think that the P-51 B/C has enough possibilities to be a completely different animal altogether because of the wide variety of camouflage schemes they were painted before the standard air superiority aluminum silver of the D. Though you could do some nice bare skin B's and C's too like the smaller 1:32 Dogfight pack Cripes a Mighty in 1:18. A lot more options though me thinks with the B/C Mustang.

TKO21 mentioned 21st was planning a B/C but the D's had flooded the market, so they nixed it, or something to that effect.
I wonder how far along they got beyond the planning stage?

I really would like a Korean War USAF F-51 Mustang. That would be a really nice looking model.

Agreed, I'd love to see the original route and go with the P-51B/C's. We've got enough D's for now, unless of course JSI managed to get the tooling for the P-51 with exposable gun vents. I remember 21st always seeing it was going to be released, and I'm surprised it never was.

The mold wasn't perfect(had fit issues with the Flying Undertaker), but it looked great and was decent to handle.

I was shoked

After many years of reading aboutr aircrafts ( and of course a lot about the WWII) i was shoked to discover only 2 years ago a detail about the mustang :

The early P 51 D were equiped with a "short tail " it was a strange discovery that i didn't notice for years :

And now i really like the look 8)

But of course i would love a P51C with malcolm hood.

The 21st century toys 1/32 P 51 C is one of my favorites !!!!!
