1/18's spotted at the musem of Flight, Seattle

Post by Thrud » Thu Jun 02, 2005 5:17 pm

I was at the museum today to see the the B-17 giving out rides. (still might go up if i get the money, $400) and stopped by the gift shop and look what i found.

sorry for poor pics, camera phone is all i had.
Notice the 38's at frame left. they had a good selection but a 20-15$ mark-up, i'm afraid. i guess you can rationalize the extra cost to support the museum.

I noticed that the packaging is different for the P-38's. Never seen that type of packaging before.

Did the B-17 belly land or something? Those props look all bent (and looks like a few are missing!).

the 17 was taxiing to the camera and it is just an effect of the shutter speed of the camera.

I believe the new P-38 boxes have small windows on the top now, so you don't have to tear them open to see which one it is.

Wow, nice box!!! I wonder if we will see any of these at WM. Thanks for the picture. I wish 21st had done this in the first place. It would of saved the lives of 1000's of boxes.....

Yeah - it would have saved alot of confusion! At first, you could only tell the S1 and "Samantha Peyton" P-38s apart by the pilot that came with them, then 21c added the "Putt Putt Maru."

However, it was peaking inside an opened S1 P-38 box at TRU way back in 2002 that allowed me to see how cool the plane really was and subsequently fork over the cash for what was the largest 1:18 plane until the F-18 (and still the plane with the larger wingspan!)

The wingspan championship crown will change when the Avenger hits the shelf. The real thing has a wingspan that is 2 feet more than the P-38......
