A blast from the past since I posted this there have been 36 people who want it.
I am sure that amount has diminished since the original post.
Since the original post there has been a new addition to the 1/12 line !!!

I was thinking of MAYBE doing the atomic bombs Fat Man and Little Boy.
Would there be interest in them ?
The Fat Man would be about 7.06 inches long and the Little Boy about 6.56 inches long.
Would this be wrong to make or in bad taste ?
I guess I would put it on a dolly or something. Maybe the B-29 bomb bay ?
Opinions ?

I'd like one in a B-29 bomb bay. On another note, Id really like a cockpit as well.

Only if you don't make an Enola Gay B-29 to go with it...

Seriously though, I don't think it's in bad taste at all, the historical significance of such an item is huge IMO, and there are many such A-Bomb models in museums and so on, so who can say it's wrong or in bad taste for you to make a model of one..?? Many would argue, and quite rightly so in my view, that the the use of the atomic bomb against Japan saved many thousands of American (and Japanese) lives that would have otherwise been lost had an invasion of the Japanese home islands been necessary.

Little Boy is that long (to scale)? I rode a replica at Los Alamos and it didn't seem that big to me. Maybe the picture I took is skewing my perception...

Actually, I do think it's in bad taste.
To much baggage with that one.
Better to do the B29 plane.

The Fatman is 10.6 feet long and the Little Boy is 9.84 feet long.
So both of them would be around 7 inches.
I have only seen black and white pics of these. I would guess the Fatty would be black and the Little would be silverish is that right.
Does anybody know ?

I think that's a mockup of the "Fat Man" at the Bradbury science museum in Los Alamos.
I sat on it too and did the Slim Pickens holler.
Though they may have gotten a "Little Boy" mockup since then, that was quite a while ago.
I think it would be cool to have each on a dolly, with a ground crew.

Here is a 1 to 1 model of the Little Boy.

Here is a 1/48 scale B-29 with the bombs painted. The Fatty was zinc cromate painted.

not in bad taste at all. If there's ever a r/c b-29 that's around 1/18 scale i'd be very interested. Right now i am somewhat interested.

Since the B-29 is not practicable in resin by size alone. Cost would rule most of us out and a bomb bay alone would not convey the sheer beauty of the plane, so that leaves us with the bombs on a dolly,
I'd vote for both in 1/18 and tell PH to put me down for one of each.
Based on PH's work so far, just tell me how much.

Don't think it would be in any worse taste than the German S.S. 1:18 scale figure set, which (within context) is OK I think. Now, if someone buys 100 of these from you to make a shrine in their back bedroom closet then, well, I'm probably not down with that.

While I don't know what I'd do with them besides making a cool little display piece, I see nothing morally wrong with making them. Actually, I would say that the 21c SS set many of you love and have multiples of is FAR more politically incorrect than an atom bomb model, but that is just my opinion. The SS was responsible for millions of more deaths than the Americans ever were.
I have little 1:48 scale models of "Little Boy" and "Fat Man" that came with a Revell B-29 kit I built 10 years ago. I've had them on display at various times over the years

Looks like I may have my 10 quota.
Would you guys want both or one or the other ?
If you had to chose one what would it be ?
I will try to add a poll to see.

I think it's a cool idea. In bad taste? Hell no, it's history. If nazi Germany or Japan had them they would have used them.

If you think making a model of a bomb, atomic or blockbuster or anything else is bad taste. Do you also think making a model of any vehicle with a Swastika on it is in bad taste?
Both the Germans and the Japanese were doing their best to develop atomic bombs and both would have used them against us without a seconds thought. The Germans also had a "New York" bomber on the boards, to use their AB and the Japanese were desperate for anything big to use against our invasion fleet, forming up off Japan..
Consider my order for both bombs to be "in"............. but I've always been considered to be in "bad taste"....

These are my thoughts exactly. Plus, the atomic bombs were used basically as a last resort, and for military purposes. The SS killed millions of people before there was a war, clearly not for military purposes.
