Just received my Gunther Rall Me 109. :D
Absolutely mint.Including the window.

I know that this has been asked before, but I am going to ask again.

The box says "Special Edition"

Does this mean anything at all?
Or are EVERY "Rall" 109's "Special Edition"
And how do they rate on the rare scale?

Excellent score, snake! :D

I don't have the plane in question but I've heard the camo is slightly different.

All Rall 109's come in the same box.

All "Rall" 109s came in the same special edition box, the graphics of which were designed by our own member, TKO211 8)

They went to most small retailers (not Wal Mart or TRU) but had a limited run overall and the scheme was not re-released. Given Rall's historical significance and popularity, the planes went quickly from what I saw. I got mine at regular retail when a couple appeared at my local Hobbytown USA store. At the time, the plane had largely already come and gone at most online retailers. When they were first out, I did not want the plane, but upon seeing it in person, realized it was the most beautiful of the 21c Bf-109Gs and got it in a heartbeat. Glad I did

Thanks for the info guys.
That is what I figured. Not disappointed at all.
And I am with tman on this.It really is a great looking scheme. And well painted as well.

With Gunther Rall passing away last month,I just felt that I should have his plane.
And it looks great in the flesh.

I already had "Seeman".Now have "Rall'
"Hackl" and "Galland" are on their way.
Been a bit of a Messerschmidt month.

If I recall correctly (IIRC), The Rall 109s were originally a Toyfair exclusive, but after the Toyfair was over, they were distributed to online retailers/small retailers.

100% correct. I sat at the conference table with 21c staff 9 months before comiccon where the topic was what do we do as a show exclusive. The g model 109 was brand new and hot so Rall came up. The hopes at the time was that Rall would make an appearance and sign boxes. Unfortunately it didn't happen due to a conflict in his tour schedule.

That plane was produced in the smallest run that 21c could do and the plan was to sell as many as they could through the show, then as excitement grew months later release the remaining planes throuh online and small retail to provide a product to those shops that were not in walmart.

Rall is the rarest of the 109g-6 series. Special Edtition boxes were designed by my design company Think Tank Creative Consortium. The idea being that some planes / pilots were famous enough to require specific box art to help sell them and to let the public know that these toys were historical in nature.

The only true numbered production limited release airplane by 21c is the Tender Terror P-51D of which less than 30 were made. There was also a one of a kind mustang that Roy custom painted as a fantasy scheme and it was part of a contest. That plane belongs to none other than John Lumley of SSHQ! There were also two of a kind mustangs painted as Duchess Arlene. Those were runner up prizes at the same show where John took first place and won his ultra rare P-51.

There is the history on 21c
