Just up at Mato toys of Canada.... Looks nice. I have my order in, and it promises to be a nice addition for anyone who is into 1/16 scale. It should also offer all kinds of possibilities for different paint schemes as well. Click the thumbnail pic below to enlarge...

Yes that is on my list to get, I've got four others, I really don't run them very often, I just like the scale.

Is there any likelihood of another company doing a Sherman? I like that one a lot, it's nice, but I just was wondering if it's the only one on the market, or on the horizon... Partly out of curiosity if there's any variety in different models of Shermans, and whatnot.

Well, there is the 1/16 FOV static diecast Sherman for around $500 or the Tamiya 1/16 RC kit for about the same, but aside from that I'm not aware of anyone who offers a similar 1/16 Sherman model (or plans to) in the same price range as the Mato one.

No, it's not. An example of the HVSS Suspension is pictured here:

Maybe you need glasses or something Phil, I dunno...

The M4A3E8, the so-called "easy eight" had the HVSS (Horizontal Volute Spring) suspension...
Like this closeup:

The Mato 1/16 model has the Vertical Volute Spring (VVSS) suspension, like this...

Sherman variants and the way they were equipped can be very daunting and confusing subject, so it's understandable...

I predict that Mato will sell more of these than any other tank, the variants are endless and the aftermarket is already available for alot of the parts. Gotta get one.

The guy who helped mato designed the Sherman said they're planning on releasing a boatload of other Sherman variants, even a Firefly!

I'm giddy... A Firefly? Hells yeah.
I'm still going to focus on getting a Tiger-I first I think, but Shermie may be 2nd.

The Tamiya 1/16 Sherman is the HVSS Easy Eight.
Word is Heng Long was going to do theirs with the HVSS and dealers and retailers strongly suggested to change to the original style suspension.
Variety is the spice of collecting.

Wise decision. The M4A1 76mm with HVSS didn't see combat with US forces. It was used for training purposes. The US Army had already decided before the of WWII to make the M4A3 their main Sherman varient.
However a M4A1 with HVSS would be great for making some IDF Shermans.

How about some pics when you get a chance...?? I had to hold off on mine for a bit due to some unforseen expenses, but I will get one eventually.

I'd dig pics too. Maybe some XD dudes sprinkled around for flavor?

yeah I'll get some pics up...took it apart to look over the power switch. The wiring is different and the "recommended" way so I'll charge up the battery and test it out.
Detail is very good. This is marketed as a mato toys product, not as a Heng Long.
The plastic tow cable is fragile, mine broke handling the tank to get the screws out. But I'm sure the aftermarket guys are busy with the metal stuff.
But it appears the road wheels actually have some sort of rubber tire. Not sure if the other tanks have rubber or just painted.
