Hey all,
Just got a note from Badcats that they got in the new JSI Panther with VERY bright red paint. Is this paint scheme accurate? Do you guys like this color? Has anyone gotten one or seen this in person? How does it look in person?
Questions, questions....

Ooh, that doesn't bode well. I'm sure the red is supposed to be a muted red clay color. Yuck!

...so that means the F-14 will have neon yellow and bright gloss gray?
There was a discussion about the JSI Panther paint scheme on another thread. From what I recall, it is an accurate late-war paintscheme. The tank was left in its red primer with the disruptive cammo patterns painted on top. That sort of cammo would have worked well in an urban setting.
Accuracy aside, I am personally not a fan of that scheme. The last 21c repaint of the Panther - along with their earlier S1 and S2 (ambush) versions - look so much better. As I have three 21c Panthers already, I am passing on this one.
My lcoal Hobbytown USA store will likely get these tanks in. If they do, I'll look it over and give a more accurate appraisal.

It's accurate, but you know how a cameras flash or too much ambient light brightens things.

Looking at the pics on the jsi website the red color looks like red oxide primer. Which from my understanding would be the correct color.

i don't care for the actual colour but i do like what it represents and that makes it historically of interest.
I wouldn't go by one person's description of 'bright' red. That's very subjective and all prototype pics i've seen have the colour correct.

This would not be my first choice for a Panther paint scheme. I'll pass on this, unless, I can get it real cheap. If it had added Zimmermit or side skirts I'd be considering purchasing this tank, but as it stand, it's not on my Christmas list.

My Panther collection is still a little bloated from the MD frenzy.
But, I bought the Minichamps version and like it, so I probably will opt for this release as well.
I'm wondering whether my SUV would look good painted in this particular scheme?

Heck yes it would! But pass on the zimm ... it's a late Panther and didn't have it.
You could always add the side skirts!

This tank falls in the same category as the Fw190 with it's red and white air recognition stripes on the underside. Not my favorite paint scheme, but a historically accurate piece that I will most likely get.
