I got a BBI 18th scale BF-109 today from a forum member, and I am really impressed with the model. It went together well, and it really captures the graceful lines of the 109. What a beauty!

Just not that much of fan of the desert tan scheme.
BBI could have released so many better liveries.

The BBI Bf-109G is certainly a great model and offers fantastic detail, a lot of functionality, and BBI's usual quality of construction. However, I do share the above concerns with the choice of paint scheme. I would have prefered an Eastern Front scheme over the tan. In That sort of scheme would have allowed me to display the model better with most of my other 1:18 WWII planes. This is not to say the paint work is terrible as BBI did their DAK tan scheme quite well in the end.

I think that BBI made some of the decisions that they did with their BF-109 in order to distinguish it from the 21c planes. 21c had obviously already saturated the market with their several schemes for the Bf-109G-6, all of which were quite similar in overall appearance and which were also great models. BBI, however, gives us an earlier G-2 variant, adds a few unique details and also gives it the DAK tan paint. All of that seperates the plane from the 21c aircraft. Thus, BBI avoided making duplicate aircraft as they did with the P-51D and Corsair. A collector can slide the BBI Bf-109G2 right in alongside their 21c ME-109Es and Bf-109G6s without having duplicate aircraft types

I like the desert scheme. First, it goes with the Flak 36. Second, IIRC the spade nose art is similar to that on the Seeman.

I like the desert tan 109G as well. It fits right in with my snake stuka, and RAF P40.

Of course I would like an eastern front paint scheme too. Hopefuly a black tulip something like this

The black tulip would be nice.

Now you have me wondering if they'll rerelease the snake stuka. For a couple of years one sat and sat in the East Bay community of Richmond, and I passed on it.

Yea, this was just never a must have, even during these slow times. The 21C 109G is still one of their finest models, and I know that bbi likes to improve on 21C's releases but this one just didn't put distance between the two versions like the Mustang or Corsair did.

I don't agree with that digger. I find the BBI BF-109 to be in a league of its own. I like th 21st Century BF-109, but I find the BBI version to be much nicer, and the engine detail is great.

I would agree with Cornbreadfed on this one as well. I do think that the 21c Bf-109G was one of their finest models, but the BBI version does exceed it in quality - the engine, cockpit detail, radio antenna & wire, landing gear and so on.

Where the BBI plane lags behind the 21c aircraft is in terms of the figure, that paint scheme variety, and additional aircraft parts (the holes are there for the wing cannon pods, but they were not included).

Both are great planes and as I noted above, at least BBI went with an earlier G-2 version so it is not exactly a remake of the 21c G-6 variant

I'll chime in on the BBI side of this one too, but with this disclaimer: 21st did an awesome job with their G model. BBI beats them on detail.
Now I wish BBI would do an E model.

It is really nice - overall it's just not sell through your first paint scheme (in a year?) popular. It's more "the mod of this board has resorted to 1/21 scale RC planes before buying it" kind of popular.

I really like the choice of plane and scheme. Different enough from 21st's.
